Day 20!

First of all let's have a moment of silence for our fallen comrades @Aludic and @DaveK

How is everyone holding up? Any temptations? Spotted a nice Certina DS-2 today. Luckily it had a date so I was able to resist pretty easily. This is going to be a long year...

Suppose a "dibs" previously registered comes up? Does it matter what year it was made (e.g. made last year - OK, this year - not OK)?

Not that I think @Spruce is going to part with his newly acquired Hamilton, except perhaps at knife-point 🙁

Just to taunt you, I’m cornering the market in these. At around £120 plus postage, I feel I have an obligation to collect these.

One on, one in the wash 😉

Good question! I think dibs from yesteryears are old crimes and they should go unpunished. Making new dibs is a definite no-no.

Just to say, the broken stem has been replaced.

You need to join the OIOO* club instead, a much more realistic goal.

*One In, One Out
Definitely agree with this as a way to keep on experiencing different watches. You could also trade up multiple watches for higher-end pieces without spending more money I find that being a good way to not throw anymore money into watches.

Reasonable approach 👍 The problem is I cannot reason with my watch addiction. So abstinence is my only choice, my only hope.

I have sinned and need to ask the father for forgiveness. I made a new dibs thinking maybe somewhere down the road the watch would be mine, 1 hour later in my inbox.... I'll post a pic when it arrives. Thanks @DaveK

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

But 1 hour later? That's not "dibs", that's "add to cart"! Waiting to see a pic of your new purchase 😀

@Nupero.
Ok so far I have bought x2, sent one back faulty and I am about to buy another one.... sounds like a fail but.....
They are all under $200 and they are for different reasons small gifts / I am not keeping them ... so if they are not ultimately for me I still say I am sticking to the watch fast so far :0)

In my nightly prayers I make to sure to mention to St. Peter that avarice is a Sin, and you should be rejected from entering the Pearly Gates for good reason.

I have also had a word with the gatekeeper on the Third Level of Hell (Gluttony). He said you were OK by him. But that was before I bunged him half a dozen Invictas.

I call that the 'chew and spit'-strategy 😁 Beware, you are dancing with the devil.

Day 35.

But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a
watch to lust after her has committed
adultery with her already in his heart.

Brothers and sisters, I have sinned. Temptation filled my heart and I bid on a vintage Omega. I knew I was weak, my soul plagued by wickedness and lust for black dials. But then I was given a second chance to continue my watch fast as I was overbid! I must learn from this setback and continue my quest with renewed vigor.

Hear hear... Glad you are still strong.

I, on the other hand, have sinned, again. (In my defence, it wasn't with a new watch, if that can be considered an attenuating circumstance? 😁)

Day 49.

How's everyone doing? @ikanbilisclub @flw @SmithSJ @Omegafanman @Fritz @Tet @Martin_J_N Any of you still fasting, still staying strong? Hope you are doing better than me 😁

I have a feeling my time is near. Let's just say that if I was having an actual fast I would have already gone shopping for groceries and would now be waiting for the oven to heat up. Like all those diet experts say: losing weight is not a question of willpower, it's about changing your lifestyle. And I didn't change my lifestyle - I didn't stop reading OF. My diet was doomed from the start 🙁
