To actually contribute to this thread, I might not buy any wrist watches this year. I’m trying really hard to save up for an important watch, and that fund doesn’t get to where it needs to be if I spend $150 here and $250 there.

Greetings!

This year I have bought way too many watches. The feast must end.

Soon I will be buried alive by these goddamn tiny ticking machines if I don't change my behavior. About a month ago I decided “no more watches this year” and here we go again. I just bought this lovely cheapo diver. It was so reasonably priced and recently serviced. Pic from seller.

I must learn how to resist the siren song of vintage beauties. Hence, I am declaring a watch fast! Starting date 1.1.2022.

A human can survive without food for 30-60 days, so let’s see how long a watch collector can last before he succumbs and makes a new purchase?

Who’s with me in this doomed and masochistic endeavor?

I said the same thing on Xmas Day, then bought a Mint 1969 Speedy Mark 2 with Omega Archives on the 31st of December. I have now given up and probably won't last the week before I add something else 😜

I’ve already experienced it in 2021…

Let me tell you that you’ll feel bad and frustrated at the end of the year, and by an unknown physical phenomenom / miracle / curse (delete as appropriate) your watch budget won’t be higher for the year after 😵‍💫

Don’t follow this false prophet you fools ! 😁

"Nobody likes a quitter" 😉

It's better to invest in watches, than letting the inflation eat away the money in the bank account...

I’m game for this fast, I need to prioritise what I buy so abstaining for a year will be good.

“Forgive me, father @Nupero, for I have sinned”, already. 😁

If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Nice watch 😀

I don't buy nice, 'investment grade' watches. I buy cheap vintage stuff, sometimes borderline junk. So yeah, I don't worry about inflation too much 😁

I tell my better half watches are an investment but I still won’t buy any in 2022.

So I ring my broker and say the price of bacon is due to go up :0)

You’ll have to share pics - otherwise it isn’t true 😁
Here you go... I am planning to get a few more out of storage and enjoy them more / 10 on rotation seemed good number for me to aim for including x2 beaters ...and might help me stop getting anymore this year...

Well, my resolution didn’t last very long... I secured a lovely black dialed double-signed Eternamatic yesterday. It’s a local sale that I’ll pick up over the weekend. A WTB post will be coming for a new crown.

Thank you to @Northernman for the guidance on this piece, you are a gentleman and a scholar.

Pics aren’t loading for me today, stay tuned!

Edit, added a pic from my phone

Do trades count😵‍💫?

Hmm... I would say trades do not count. Probably not good for you though, like artificial sweeteners.
