Actually this might be a good place to ask a quick question. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a replacement crystal for my Croton chrono. Should be the same as the CASD crystal (I hope). Are there readily available as NOS, or is there a modern replacement, or... ?

These are neat little watches! Like the name says, it should be the perfect swiss army knife of watches .

I had two, unfortunatly traded the yachting two weeks ago, the Arrow hand with original Nivada bracelet I will keep.

(Personnaly i don’t think so..)

Me neither, as far I know the Flightmaster Only hadn't a bg impact, right?
This watch has no amazing story as the Speedmaster and its look is not really for all tastes. Personnally I like them but I hope the market will not inflate, we need affordable timepiece!!

Nice ! Two different combinations with the 2 nicest movements (IMHO). The v92 is definitely my favorite one => those arrow hands !!

The earliest CASD is named Chronograph Aviator Sea Diver with Venus 210, I believe this one is 2nd execution

The subdial handset is also more classy

Nice one ! I believe it is a V7733 (may be Landeron 248) but it’s not a CASD 😗

Thanks, I thought CASD was just a name variant of this or vice versa, as they have the same meters and functions

The above Arnex posted by @pIoNeErOfThEnILe is also not a CASD, but I guess he was pretty clear about that already.

Point taken, but I do remember seeing a strikingly similar watch as mine with CASD on the dial. So, it would be normal to feel that this is essentially the same watch or should belong to the same group in the same way that CASD watches that are not branded Nivada or Croton is allowed. JMHO.

Yes this watch look similar except the case wich is radically different. Anyway that’s a pretty watch and we can not say that the case of the CASD is a patented model especially developed by Nivada!!

I mean the Longines big eye (CASD?? 😉 ) has the same case too I probably forgot many others!

I am very curious about that Chronomaster Only book!!

Me too. Btw, has no one else seen the Croton or Nivada CASD that has a case similar to my watch above?

I bought this later reference CASD with VJ 23 around 1991, and wore it rather steadily for 10 years. I liked the watch then and still do. The lollipop chrono hand is just plain cool, IMHO. I believe that this watch was originally delivered to Europe and not the USA based on the " Nivada Grenchen Oranus" text on the dial.

The watch represents to me somewhat of the initial "gateway drug" , in terms of its kindling and developing my interest in older chronographs. This image was taken just before having it serviced - including a desperately needed crystal polish, which really opened up the look of the dial and hands. Following that service, and fitting a new strap, I gave it to my youngest son (27) who now wears it frequently. I look forward to seeing the book and hope that values of these watches remain realistic and attainable for others.
