I agree with you.
It's 1,5k the guy has my $8k and no watch or refund since then.
Also no news from since since he promised me tow weeks ago he would give me a refund.
No explanation why he couldn't deliver the watch.
Very frustrating and also hard to believe for a guy that is so respected here and even more on Vintage Rolex Market.
The moderators there even don't allow me to ask the VRM for info or help since the sale took place here on OF.
Do you know the guy or know where he is hanging out?
Thanks for any helpful info.
Best regards,
Bernard

I did John.
They took away his selling rights but there is not much more they can do.
But at least that way he will not be making more victims here.
I tried to post a message on VRM where he is a regular seller as well but the moderators aren't allowing my message since the sale took place here and not on VRM.
Hard to understand for me but I have to accept it.
Thanks.
Bernard

Hi guys,
Just had contact with Eric Ku from Vintage Rolex forum.
It seems Nicolas Abuaf was banned years ago from the forum because of several issues.
So that explains why he was selling Rolexes here.
Some may have been lucky here the deal went ok, unfortunately I wasn't.
I am not counting on him refunding my money anymore. Too much time went by.
I am now trying to find him with the help from some friends located in Miami.
Please let me know in case you see him or hear from him.
Eric Ku also sent him an email telling him to the fix this bad situation.
Best,
Bernard

Hi

Considering the recipient of the funds , have you asked the Police to attend this address & speak with the People listed ?

or perhaps contact via linkedin:

Hi B

You are very welcome....

I'm actually very sad & disappointed to see this re Nicolas ( who I considered as a friend ). I very much hope that common sense kicks in & that there is no need to use the authorities.

I can only assume he is personally in a ' bad ' space at the moment....

Best - Neil

This is very interesting, Neil.
Thanks a lot mate.
Will have to figure out how to proceed since I am in Belgium and not in the US.
Best,
B

Sorry to see such things happening. 8k is a lot to lose.
Any Miami based friend who could file a criminal complaint in court on your behalf and state the facts? Even the initial complaint, regardless of the result, will at least create a paper trail against him that I reckon future business contacts would find.

Sorry for your situation Bernard, I know its too late for advice, but I use PayPal and ONLY pay PayPal with my credit card. I did have someone try to scam me of 4000 euros for a watch. It took two months to get my money back but I eventually got a double refund, first from the credit card company, and then from PayPal!

You need to report it to the Police where you live in Belgium, they cant particularly do anything but a Police report number helps the 'legal' process (I reported my problem to the Czech Police and after a couple of weeks they contacted me and said they had reported to the German Police (the scammer lived in Germany) and the German Police knew him!

like I say doesn't help you now, but something to bear in mind. Hope you get it sorted.

Post a link on chronotrader too. Spread out the info as much as possible. You never know, maybe someone lives close by and can help.
Sorry for your mishap!

Just saw the thread. I dont post too often, but will pitch in here.
He scammed me for 2.5K, when I purchased Longines tre tache, about 3 years ago. Luckily I paid with paypal and was able to get most of the money back. It was not a surprise to a few well known Vintage Dealers, when I shared the story, apparently he was known for that. Oh well, he wont be the last one. Rememder The Captain - Steve Mulholland!

Hi guys,
A final post on the story, Nicolas Abuaf is just a common thief and a liar.
Nothing more to say. I will not annoy you guys with the details.
It's just too sad.
One advice, stay away from that guy. He is a smooth talker but will take your money and then hide in Argentina.
Happy New Year guys and thanks for all the support.
Best,
B
