A little break during a slow day at work, going to the nearby Boutique to have the bracelet put back on my Globemaster. And what did I see but the platinum version to compare -- what a nice watch and great strap! -- as well as the Sedna FOIS.

Some pics

BTW: what is that inscription or stamp in the middle of the platinum GM's dial -- "P1050" ?? Not visibly to the naked eye, needless to say.

Yes, I believe you are correct! Platinum dial, 'natch. Beautiful dial in person, too.

I'm headed to the NYC Boutique next week. Bringing in a 300M for a regular service. Hope to try on one of the Globemasters.

That Sedna FOIS just blows away the GM in my book...wow!
When you see them both in person, the Globemaster blows the FOIS away. Platinum is an amazing metal. The enamel caseback is just unreal.

Have you seen one in person? It might make you reconsider...

Especially either of the platinum LEs! The annual calendar is spectacular as well.

Not seen one in person. However i have seen a few rolexes with a fluted Dail and i have always avoided buying them purely on the design. Its a personal thing and what may switch me off may be desirable to others and vice versa.

Well, I guess the metal is not really the point in this case. I like platinum, this is what I've chosen for our wedding rings. In this case the GM just feels very "plain" to me. And I am not a fan of the fluted bezel, too. In the same way that a VC Patrimony Ultra Thin in platinum would feel. Very restrained. The FOIS instead tickles all my senses...sorry for not being able to express better as non english speaker.

You described your affection for the FOIS beautifully, probably better than most on this forum would!

I came by the OB to pick up the CK2998 and had a chance to put on a couple of (in dream only) watches, on loan from the museum.

Thanks to the very nice team at the Houston OB 😀
