I love my 16750. Magnum PI special. Just starting to show a nice patina and increasing in value. Not perfect but nice to wear everywhere........except diving/swimming 😉. They can easily be had in your price range. I prefer the older GMTs as the dials sit more shallow in the case. They kind of jump out instead of the newer versions set deep under a sapphire crystal.
.
The 16750 matte is a great model offering the look and vintage features of the 1675 but with the quick set feature allowing you to change the date independently versus having to around 24 hours at a time to reach the achieved date.

This is a very nice model, unfortunately it is fitted with an aftermarket bezel insert knows as the "hooked 2"...

Can you point me to an image of the correct bezel? Where can I find one lovingly used?

There are many choices and prices have gone crazy lately. The earlier production inserts have a Red back and the later, including the later 16750 models, have a blue back. Replacement inserts have a blue back with a thin font.
The question is how much you want to spend...it could range $400-3,000. The more expensive would include the Fuchsia colors.
.
There is a fat font blue back common on the 16750 that has serif numbers.
.
Ive included some inserts I've owned, mostly red backs, with different shades: copper, blue jeans, pink.. and some fatter than others..

Here is a correct red back that would fit your 16750.
