Hey there,

First time posting a question on an Omega here. I tried to do as much homework as possible but I'm still looking for your opinions on this one, please. The pictures aren't great but hopefully good enough for some assessment of yours.
Here's what I come up with with my limited knowledge and experience:
- Case has decent edges although has had some polishing in the past
- Case has some rust
- original crown?, maybe
- minute and hour hand look to be in a decent condition, seconds hand not so much
- dial, hmm. Almost looks to good considering the rust on the seconds hand and on some of the case. Of course I wish it to be an untouched dial
- very doubt that there is a known service history

Your thoughts on it would be very much appreciated!!

Thanks and aloha
Johan

A decently composed first question @doofalb

The case looks good with a few minor scratches and dings.
The crown is the correct type for an .004.
The movt looks quite clean but has some heavy rotor rub, so requires a service.
The case gasket is missing.

The dial looks good but the pics really aren’t good enough to assess the dial properly - they may have been taken in poor lighting and over exposed on purpose - its even difficult to see if all the lume is intact - which leads to being cautious.

however, a corroded seconds hand and good dial aren’t mutually exclusive.

Difficult to tell if the mark on the ‘9’ crosshair is on the crystal or dial.

if you are seriously interested I would ask for better straight on pics of the dial in natural light.

hope that helps.

Hi @Peemacgee,

Thank you so much, that is very helpful! Not only have a learned something (again!), but am also a little closer to getting this one. I started buying vintage watches 40 years ago, just by the looks/design. Now I start to realize how little I know!

Anyway, I asked the seller for better picture of the dial, which I attached. Not sure why there isn't a straight on picture, but that might have gotten lost in translation.

Any feed back on the dial is highly appreciated!

Aloha!

Slightly better pics.

I think that mark on the cross hair is on the dial and there are more, smaller marks, either side of the six index and below the upper text.
it could be debris from the seconds hand but unlikely.
There looks to be corrosion on the upper part of the star.

Otherwise the dial looks correct.
it’s a nice watch but you will have to decide if the marks on the dial bother you.

Thanks again for the detailed reply. Judging from the pics, I think I can live with the marks. It is now on the long way to me 😀

I think a good decision can be made also regarding the price which the seller ask for this watch, but if you already bought it, now we will wait for the pictures when it will arrive..😀
