My only issue with the BNLR is that although it's a great watch the bezel.and case are a little bit too stated for my taste. The GMT line traditionally had a thinner profile than the sub. There is an elegance to the present ceramic GMT that is simply not there with the ceramics. They are still great watches, but IMO they no longer have the distinctive proportions that made them a separate line. As they no share the same case as the subs they are basically just sub gmt options. For this reason I would look for NOS or great examples of ore ceramic gmt's

I agree with al lot of @al128 's post although I do wish we all got over the " love rolex hate rolex wearer's" retórica. If you buy buy for yourself, there are plenty of good and bad people wearing any brand out there.

You will save 25% off the bat by not buying new, and there are lots of cases where you can find great opportunities on the previous owner market. AL is absolutely right on that one. The premium you pay to take the tags off a new watch is simply not worth it, specify for the pieces discussed.

I should so add this conversation is very much targeted towards the brands you mentioned on the original post, but you can so find items like the Omega LMLE PO ( one was for sale recently at this forum not sure if it's still there) and other brands that so check all the boxes.

Good points. I will have a look into these.

If I did go for a sub I may get it new as it would be on interest free and would be low payments each month (if it was pre owned I would be borrowing money at a chargeable rate which would probably end up similar) plus I am quite keen on getting it this coming Sunday to have the warranty card stamped with my sons birthday. I would be handing it down to him in many years to come and feel it would be a nice little touch.

All great options. My first nice watch was a 2006 Rolex Sub 16610 non engraved z serial which has brought me many many years of happiness. The only thing I regret about that purchase is the price I paid from an AD. I was young and didn't realize watches could be bought so much cheaper from other places with warranty and even financed in your case from other places. An Omega G/DSOTM can be had for $7k USD or cheaper. The GSOTM is currently my favorite watch I own but am longing for quite a few other pieces in rose or similar gold from JLC, RLX, and Patek namely a strap Datejust II or Day Date, JLC Q1542520 (something about the blue second hand draws me to this dress watch) and Patek 5107 or 5296 and of course any Nautilus at some point in stainless.

And as far as the "Two Tone" Daytona, I would never buy it new or from an AD unless getting a huge discount. They just don't hold value at all. Some really dislike TT watches. I have never owned one but don't dislike them. They are harder to go casual with but if your casual is more of dress casual it shouldn't be a problem. I dress up towards the higher end of dress casual almost daily and can easily pull off gold strap watches. I would just check the watch forums' for sale sections before buying the Daytona first. There are many sellers that deal with new warrantied watches for much cheaper so just a heads up.

Get the solid gold if you wanted luxury and classy...you will never go wrong with it and it would most likely increase in value over the years...

Welcome.

I have and love a Daytona and plan on getting a Panda one of these days, great watch but particularly on the two tone not versatile at all. I also had a speedy and sold it, I love it but it didn't quite do it for me. Perhaps a FOIS or a good vintage one will break the spell.

I have two subs a 5512 and 14060M great and versatile.

But, for me, as an in introduction a GMT Pepsi or Coke would do the trick. The Batman is nice but the coke and Pepsi really do it for me. If you want a new Pepsi that will cost you as they only make it on white gold now, but you can vet a good example of a 16710 within your budget with any bezel and buy other bezel options separately.

The gmt seems.to tick all the boxes you mention for a "one" luxury, versatile, durable watch

Think BIG...act small, do your homework and start vintage....my first three L to Rt.

Good Luck....

what about the JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon? it falls into the ballpark at about 7.5k.

Thanks Guys. As Standy kindly mentioned. I went for a new Speedmaster Pro hesalite and a leather strap Seamaster 300. I figured these will give me great pleasure and perfect versatility for a good period of time. Not too mention strap options as well.
Am loving them, especially having a manual wind combined with an auto.
Still really want a sub or GMT for the perfect combo but that's me being greedy and impatient.
