Apparently 52mm L2L. That rules me out. Pity, at 40mm and 48 L2L I’d have been running to the AD

Interesting but still prefer the Pelagos v2, by some margin. The puzzlement I felt when reading about and then finally seeing this one took me back to the P01 release a while back. Immediate thoughts:

- Not crazy about the fixed lugs
- Flatter, duller dial than the Pelagos
- Is 5 rather than 5 lines of text worth the trouble?
- Countdown bezel is interesting but prefer the cleaner look of the original
- Gains in thinness useful, but not enough for desk divers, and for me when diving a non-issue

Oh well.

the watch is meant to be pretty specific and special, they weren’t trying to reinvent the Pelagos. It’s a nod to an older partnership and heritage.

I think it’s certainly interesting and nice to see Tudor experiments on a commercial level.

I really think Tudor should add just the date. I just rely on the date too much. The price your paying for Tudor seems like thinking it should include the date isn’t a big ask. I know they do have date models but if I get around to buying a watch I normally would not Tudor is on that list and the lack of a date will play into my decision (I’m sure Tudor is concerned to hear me say this about something that maybe has a 30% chance of happening)

Can’t wait to get one of these FXD!!

And although I certainly do not think it is a perfect watch by any stretch of the imagination, when I read most of the “comments” (complaints?!) posted so far, I just wonder why one would not get the original Pelagius instead. 👎

Anyhow, as others said: you can’t please everybody. 😁

Dang, I really want to like this but it's not working for me. A thinner, cheaper Pelagos with a countdown bezel sounds amazing, but I think it's really two things that put me off:

1) The minute indicators on the bezel may be nice for military precision.. but they make the design very busy and harder to read at a glance.

2) I just don't like this lug shape.

But, maybe I'll go take a look and see if it's any better in person.

Guys. Reserve final verdicts till you can see it in the flesh.

For me it was a clear #want (edit : in the flesh, and a clear 🤦 before).

Didn't Yema provide an official wristwatch to the French Navy with the Yema NavyGraf and the Yema NavyGraf GMT ?
Since World War II, the Marine Nationale must be the world's largest tester of military watches as Airain, Auricoste, Blancpain, Omega, Rolex, Tudor and Yema have passed the revue... These "expensive" watches will probably be given out "on loan" only... 🤔

None are issued but branded Marine Nationale as a marketing partnership

While in Dubai I stopped in the Tudor Boutique to try on the BB58 bronze, which of course they didn’t have available.

But they did have a demo model of the Pelagos FXD. Of course I tried it on.

I was skeptical when I saw the photos online, but I was really impressed in-person. It wears much, much thinner than the standard Pelagos. The 52mm lug-to-lug is deceiving as the slotted lugs curve down around the wrist, again making it wear lower than the standard Pelagos. The matte, saturated blue dial is stunning. IMHO better than the standard blue Pelagos and the blue BB58. The velcro strap was great and easy to use.

Would’ve never considered buying the FXD based on the online photos. Definitely considering it now after seeing in-person and trying on.

Nice report from the field. Specs can be deceiving. One of the watches I lusted after looked great on paper, but when I finally got it, it just didn’t feel right- I ended up selling it sadly despite loving it in concept. You gotta try it on.

I just can't get on board with this since it's not on a bracelet.

I am sure that Tudor is gently weeping over your decision.

It's a good one. Unique fixed bars, good proportions and very comfortable for the wrist.

To those who are thinking about purchasing a Tudor Pelagos FXD but are still sitting on the fence, just do it! You can thank me later. After spending quality time with it I truly can’t find anything to complain about. It’s that good. It’s the definition of tool watch. Adjectives that first come to mind are purposeful, utilitarian, tough and rugged. Although it’s incredibly understated with its brushed Ti case, matte dark blue dial and ‘matte’ ceramic bezel, it surprisingly has great wrist presence. Don’t expect it to be showy or blingy. There is zero bling. The FXD’s design esthetic somehow offers a perfect balance between a relevant/trendy vibe and a vintage vibe. Like most Rolexes, this Reference has all of the good vintage details/DNA of its iconic ancestors and yet, still feels fresh and contemporary due to its lack of any faux vintage patina. It’s Ti light yet still feels substantial. It sits relatively low on the wrist and its two straps conform perfectly to the wrist so it wears comfortably. From a practical side, it’s the most legible watch I’ve ever owned. Highly recommended.
PS It’s an M.N. 21. My wrist size is 7” /18cm
