Hello, I am planning to move to Omega from TAG Heuer, of which I have a pretty good collection, but now it seems that Omega "speaks to me" more. Appreciate all Omega watches, but the one(s) that "speak to me" right now, are Planet Ocean (215.32.44.21.01.001) and PO Chrono (215.32.46.51.01.001). Spotted couple examples on ebay from Jomashop, watchmaxx, watchbox, as well as some private sellers. How safe, in your opinion, is ebay watch buying? Do not mind save 12-15 hundred, but have concerns about the warranty and authenticity. Thank you. Cheers.

So you're saying you are considering buying a watch from Jomashop THROUGH ebay?
Why not just buy from Jomashop directly? Not sure what watchbox is but isn't Watchmaxx a grey dealer as well?
I don't think you necessarily have to worry about authenticity, but most grey market watches will NOT come with any sort of manufacturer warranty.
There are tons of people who buy (and sell) through ebay, but I personally never deal with them.

I used ebay as an aggregator of the info I need :) I am not keen to use GM watches, bought all my TAGs from an AD, just exploring options. Any idea how reliable are calibre 8900 and calibre 9900 ?

    Understood.
But no, sorry I have no experience with PO's.
Only time I would consider buying from grey is that if the discount was good enough to cover the cost of 2 Omega services.
And depending on the watch, thats $1k+

I'd also consider Chrono24 and the Private Sales section of this forum.

UPDATE. First I need to thank the forum, for providing recommendations, among which was a reference to Watch Exchange Company @mdgrwl . Reached out to this Company, had couple very good email conversation with Matt, and as the result, starting today, I am a proud owner of a brand new PO co-axial chronometer 21532442101002. Pictures attached. Have to say that I liked working with Matt and would deal with his Company again. 68175212047__242D0449-12F3-4188-8DC8-497B9F6998D3.jpg 68175218895__05F54A09-DD24-4ADD-B928-AF30DC9C6EA7.jpg 68175225351__AACA83B9-77A0-42BE-A3D6-F3A2DD0BD864.jpg

They're pretty solid movements. The 9900 is the more magnetic resistant version of the 9300 so any early quirks from that model have generally been ironed out. Not to say it's faultless but they're pretty reliable.

I've purchased several watches through eBay and I have had really good luck. I am sure I have saved myself thousands and the last Speedmaster Racing I purchased a couple weeks ago cam from Japan. It was brand new with a warranty card - that was a surprise. Using the eBay certification takes a lot of the risk out of it. Maybe I have been lucky, but I would not hesitate to purchase again through eBay. I always ensure I can return just in case.

Although I have not made any purchases from Watch Exchange Company, I have had many conversations with Matt about his Seamaster inventory. He has always been prompt and knowledgeable. Props to WEC and congratulations on the fine purchase.
