New to Omega and need help from Omega lovers

Dear all,

I recently purchased a Speedmaster White Dial (“White Speedy”) about two months ago. Last week, however, I was unexpectedly offered a new Silver Snoopy at the Omega Boutique in Amsterdam - a rare opportunity I would really like to take.

Of course, it’s quite a stretch financially so soon after my last purchase, so I am considering either selling my White Speedy outright or trading it in as part of the deal. The watch is in excellent condition, essentially like new, with full set and warranty.

I must say, I really love the look of the White Speedy, but my thought is that it might be easier to pick one up again in a year or two - whereas a Snoopy is much harder to come by.

What’s your take on this? Would you go for the Snoopy and let the White Speedy go, or hold on to it?

Kind regards,
Evan (Netherlands)

I would look right past any Snoopy to admire the more attractive watch you already have.

Welcome to the Forum, by the way!

This is going to come down to what you like the most. The Snoopy is of course a much less made model, and more difficult to get from an OB, but as @noelekal says: the white Speedmaster is absolutely beautiful as well.

I'm a little biased perhaps, but I own a white speedmaster and have been offered a Snoopy a few times and still don't own one. IMO the white one is a more attractive watch. The Snoopy is perhaps rarer and I might regret not getting it some day, but it doesn't do 'it' for me.

That said: No sell, only buy.

Thanks both for you honest opinion, for looks the White Speedmaster is the the best looking of the two. In case of, collection, it would be the Silver Snoopy. I think ErichKeane, is totaly right: No sell, only buy.
Let you know next week what the verdict is..

I tend to focus on what I would prefer to see on my wrist regularly as opposed to what I would like to see in my safe. The hobby is watches to me, not art collecting 😉

FWIW, if you've come here asking for responsible watch ownership, you've come to the right place 😀 I'm up to 6 speedmasters thanks to the influence of this place. So.... keep up :-P

Hey all, random question from a newbie.

On Chrono I've noticed a trend that the often cheapest options for a model I'm interested in, are coming from Japan. Is there any reason for this. High tariffs? More of a saturated market?

Japanese yen is not strong, however with import duties and VAT it will likely be as much as within EU.

I have both, the Snoopy was a stretch because it showed up way quicker than I expected it to. But I would not have sold my white one for it, it was the first new watch in decades that I just had to have.

It's up to you, @Evanwss, we enablers won't give you unbiased advice. If you really LIKE the Snoopy more than the white dial, and you can get a good trade in value, then do it. Don't do it because of the last five years of hype around Snoopy. I was never tempted by the white dialled version because I have a few light dialled Speedmasters that I like more than the snow white dial version. It all comes down to personal choice and what YOU want.

IMO, you have two wrists, and 7 days in a week. Means you need 14 Speedmasters.

Sell a kidney or your soul, just buy both and live with no regrets!

Speaking from many lifetime experiences.

It’s easy for me to put off buying a Snoopy 50th by reminding myself I’m saving up for a Snoopy 45th.

Love the advise, great help from all of you. One thing for sure, you are watch lovers!

Didn’t bought the Snoopy yet, but also didn’t sell the white Speedy. Stay tuned 👀⏱️
