Would the -6 have the Leaf sub-dial hands from the factory? In the it's-not-the-norm-but-it-has-happened of 60s/70s watch manufacturing?

I believe Leafs would not be correct on a 2998-6.

True... Then again, at the price this watch was sold, I would take it, even without any subdial hands. Those leafs are a bonus! 馃槈

Thank you everyone for your input. I prefer the leafs anyway ; )

Next: to source the correct bracelet and is there a good NEW bracelet to wear for reliability sake?

The auction house was a smaller US one with several online auction feeders.

If the correct bracelet is a 7912 then I may have one available. (Doesnt have no.6 endlinks though).

Yup. Uncle Seiko's flat link is pretty good, even when compared side-by-side with the real Omega flat links. Sturdy, good fit to the watch and very affordable. Most common alternative would be Forstner. There's ample discussions on those here on the forum and fans of both are well represented around here.

Let me rephrase - I will hunt in a bit for a long term bracelet to be correct and complete the watch but for now go with a decent aftermarket for now. I do not trust 40-60 year old watches on 40-60 year old bracelets. There was the time I was driving down the road at 50mph, took my arm in the window, and my Snowflake fell, fortunately, inside the window to under my feet. Since then I wear only on new (93150 for Rolex and Tudor) or a 5 ring NATO.

But before I get the correct bracelet I need to finish some current projects, in particular an Eagle Beak 7928 ; )

All these bracelets so little time ; )

Thank you all for advice and comments! I am usually the one answering questions ( Tudor) and I knew the was the place to get what I needed to know!

It's a nice example.
Going by the (partial) serial number it should be a CK2998-61.
Case has been polished.
The chrono hand is lacking the bent-down tip which could suggest it is a later service part rather than original period OEM.
The subdial hands are not original. Their shape is not correct for period OEM.
Picture comparison with a 2915 & a 2998-3 below (OP's watch in the middle).

Great Comparison - Thank you ; )

Caseback comes off today when I visit my watchmaker but your comments appear spot on

Chrono hand tritium matches well but the tip is not bent and I suspect it was service replacement

I love these subdial hands so while I suspect they are not correct, they are staying ; )

Will have some better photos on the case, too. Yes polished, but perhaps not as badly as the photos in the sun amplify

I am glad you chimed in ; )

Cheers,
