Farcical.

I know this is a win from a corporate/marketing viewpoint, but it鈥檚 an abomination for the Fifty Fathoms collection and Blancpain鈥檚 overall reputation.

What鈥檚 next Swatch Group? A plastic Bregeut?

I think it is a pretty fair offer, the only issue I see is the durability and therefore sustainability ... unless you can bring them back to the store like old Nespresso capsules ...

I thought the release was the 9th??
I suppose I'll have a few shots at this one.
Wife is in Vegas in a month and then NYC in December.
Meanwhile, the Orlando store is about 1.5 hours from me.
Did not have the Orlando option with the Moonswatch...

The fifty fathoms has the most beautiful bezel ever made, IMO.

It is unfathomable why they would try to turn this into a Swatch.
I see what you did there.

Idk, not really feeling these as much as the moonSwatch.
They look like toys, TBH.

Who here would buy a Blancpain-Swatch with a System 51 movement with a plastic escape wheel and pallets! 馃ぎ You could pick up a Tissot for (likely) a fraction of the price!

Well, I know I wouldn't.

I think they鈥檙e kind of fun. I bet a lot of people buying those will be some BP FF owners.

But the main issue for me is the design of rhe current Blancpain FF watch and its puffy curved bezel. By contrast, the original Firty Fathoms had a beautiful flat bakelite bezel.

Okay who is going to go to New York City and buy me a blue one and a yellow one? I'll pay $500 each. That should be enough of a tip to cover your time.

Looks like a cool & fun release to me, I like the green model in particular, but i really do question the marketing strategy of releasing them in select swatch boutiques given the likely demand and the somewhat unpleasant scenes and stories associated with the moonswatch launch. I don't think bringing out the worst in people makes you look good, but maybe I'm just being naive! Why not make a 100k of each and then announce the watches - they will sell no problem.

I was all set to dismiss this release as a "meh" based on the rumors, but I'm surprised at how much I like these - to be honest. I don't feel great when I buy a quartz ( wasteful/enviro ), although I still do it,....but I find any automatic more appealing - even one as "disposable" as this in hopes that it might last a lot longer. These colors look cool - some too wild for me personally - and the decorated movement just looks fun. Though if I ever get one, I'll be reaching for the tropic straps or monochrome NATOs.

If the blue or some of the others were in front of me now - I'd happily buy one ....

I think Swatch did a surprisingly good job. I'd be stunned if this was even 20% the hype of the moonswatch - but it is a cool release.

An automatic watch with a total life span of 2-4 years and $400 price tag!

I don't think it's worth my money in any sense. A Tissot or Seiko with so many dial and colour options is any day a better choice, if a person knows all facts before buying in marketing hype supported by so-called watch experts/blogs/journalists.

Objectively speaking....did I miss something?
Is this fact?

Yes. I believe sistem51 has a limited life and its non-repairable, use and throw movement with plastic parts. Swatch quartz has a better life span.

Definitely something to consider then. I'll admit I'm ignorant when it comes to the sistem51 movement.

However, a member on MWR posted a video made by a reputable watch repairer here in the UK (watchguy) where he 'forces' his way in to a System51 driven watch to inspect the innards, apparently they have a plastic escape wheel and pallet fork and the hairspring is fixed in to the bottom plate.

Timegrapher results were distinctly average/erratic in all positions except dial down. I agree it looks a fun watch and I am sure it will be a flyaway success. But, in my 'old fashioned' mind, this sealed, unserviceable watch and movement is horologicaly and environmentally offensive and there is no genuine reason for it to exist.

It would have been much better on every level to persuade Blancpain that it was OK to put a decent quartz movement inside and allow access to it.
