Seriously though, this watch looks fantastic in all dial colours, white, grey, blue and the one i have which is the black dial - I know many people who are not Omega fans on first impressions mention that they don't like the waves, or the skeleton hands, or the helium escape valve or the bracelet doesn't taper and is too wide - I have loaned my watch to 3 friends who said this and would you believe they each reported back that actually after wearing it, the watch has a certain charm, it doesn't try to copy anything else, the helium escape valve gives it something quite unique, the skeleton hands they all claim are the easiest to read the time with and they loved the way the light shines off of them, they have grown fond of the waves, the bracelet however still had mixed reviews but 2 of the 3 bought a new one (a black and a white) on returning mine, and the 3rd bought an older quartz black version from a used dealer...
This watch imho will become a legend in the future if it isn't already...

·I’ve mentioned before that my white dial on a rubber strap has kept my submariner in the box, I like the fact it’s different snd yet I don’t worry about wearing it around town. I’m off the Rolex hype train finally and happy about it!

·Yeah never be scared to ask for a discount ( unless in a Rolex AD where they will either laugh you out the store or try and get you went to a Psychiatric ward).
I'm officially the worst negotiator in Omega Forum history. Went to two SLC AD's to look at SMP300. I was offered 10% by one if I buy the watch AND an AquaTerra I like.
The second offered me 7% off a gray dial SMP300. I said I need 10% and I'll buy it right now. She said no. I asked if she was really going to walk a sale and future customer over 3%. She replied, "Are you going to walk away from a watch you love over 3%?". I walked. This speaks to my shallowness I'm sure, but she was so freaking pretty (like stunningly beautiful), I felt a little intimidated and didn't have the huevos to push hard. Oh well, live to fight another day.

The part of her being "so freaking pretty" and that you were intimidated made me laugh too hard. Seems like she used to sell Rolex by the "buy two technique". Keep shopping, the watch isn't hard to find and I'm sure you can get at least a 10% discount. Is the gray dial the one you really want? If so, bracelet or rubber? Drop me a message and maybe I can point you in the right direction.

I kid you not I was on a forum earlier and there was a woman who said she worked at an AD and had this guy come in who was haggling over 3%, she said she was hoping you would haggle more and or come back as she found you absolutely gorgeous and ever so handsome, she said she wishes she had given you her number and would give you an extra 10% off if you give your number...

I did leave my card....
I figured it was one of those when I got to the door , I'd get a text saying they'd make an exception and give me ten percent. I was walking hella slow to the door. It's crazy right now. I've noticed even the popular forum sellers here have increased their price by a few hundred bucks on SMP's. I figured this pandemic would cause folks to take a break on luxury items and conserve cash. Boy was I wrong.

I honestly went in thinking 15% would be the floor...not 7% being the ceiling. There are a few AD's I can hit in the future (while traveling) and try my luck there. Hopefully with some non alpha guy I can boss around

SLC where is that? I am sure you can get btwn 20-30% (even upto 38% ish) on Omega depending on the model - the SMP I think 20% + should be achievable - depends where you go, perhaps try to find a location where there is competition i.e. more than 1 AD or an AD and an OB, the least popular of the two should welcome your custom and I would imagine offer the kind of discount you are seeking, but you do need to be persistent - remember, the SMP especially new is not like a one off Bugatti or something, they are built in their thousands so be persistent and if like your other experience its a no go, you can easily go to any other shop and buy the same watch, so dont cave...you WILL get one at the price that suits you.
and...a date with the sales assistant... 😀

Damn, I didn't even know this is a thing. I just figured like any other luxury retailer, the sticker price is the price, and that you would like a giant cheapass asking for a discount. I understand that this doesn't apply to the LE models or other models that have a limited supply for sky high demand....but I guess that gives me a new outlook on buying new. haha. Thanks for educating the FNG (me, lol).
