Welcome to the Forum. I remember when my sons and I were in Vienna and while on a walking tour we saw an Austrian wearing a LA Dodgers hat, when we asked him if he was a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, he replied,"No, it is for Lower Austria."
I might be able to top that. I grew up in Washington State and the Seattle Seahawks were quite popular. I was the kind of kid who didn't like to be like everyone else, so I decided to represent the other football team from Washington. I was about 5 or 6, and I convinced my dad to buy me a Washington Redskins hat (and yes I do agree with getting rid of the name). My dad let me wear it around for a year before he told me that the team was from Washington DC which is a city on the other side of the country.
