Newbie here. Just puchased an Omega Seamaster AT 41.5 'Skyfall' Blue. Previously had a Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph Quartz (probably 38 or 39mm I think) so this is really a big step up for me and was a huge decision to make. I had decided on the AT a long time ago, as I love the simple, minamilist, classic look in the modern watch, Alos, I have an Mon- Fri office 'suit' day job and I am generally quite sporty at the weekends etc. so I wanted a one fits all, ticks all boxes, watch. The AT can do both IMO, dress up or dress down.

I decided to go for the 41.5 based on advise I had read on wrist sizes (7.25") and based on the recommendation from my wife and the AD assistant who both said they preferred the 41.5 over the 38.5 on me. The blue colour was no brainer, it is simply a stunning colour. However after taking it home an now after having worn it for a few days now I'm just not getting used to seeing the bigger size on my wrist. If feels great, really comfortable and the watch is truely awesome looking but I can't help thining the 38.5 might have been a better choice! I guess I will have to get used to it.

Anyways a question re straps for the AT. I would like the option to put a leather/rubber strap on the AT for other occassions/sports etc. is this possible or the done thing on an AT. I see that versions of the AT come standard with leather straps, can these be bought individaully and can a Joe bloggs change the straps or does it need to goto the AD to have the strap changed.

Thanks

Excellent choice👍 , and as far as straps go you can do this yourself quite easily with the right tool. Search out strap changes on this forum and you will find the information you need. With a few straps/bracelets the AT can handle almost any event you will need to attend. I have been eyeing the AT myself for some time now (of course with the blue dial).

Looks good on your wrist... Lugs aren't hanging over. But if you decide to flip it for the 38.5 shoot me a note!

anyone have a picture of the blue faced AT (either size) with leather straps? i know dennis has the beautiful custom blue one, but don't recall seeing any others. i'd like to add a brown leather to my arsenal to pair it with but want to see what it looks like first.

That blue AT is a stunner; that's by far my fave AT in that exact size, which looks perfect on your wrist. I've had it on my wrist and it was a tough tough thing to walk away from it. I personally love the bracelet on it and hadn't even thought of alternatives, so I can't help you there. Enjoy!

Thanks repoman you are right, its reall grown on me.....buy it.😉 Its worth it! I wasn't prepared to shellout another approx $700 for the master version. Maybe foolish but the AD would have had to order it also (7-10d) and I wanted to walk out of the shop with it on!

Looks great! Is the strap black or dark blue?
Dark blue OEM. iPhone camera, sorry. Maybe this is better:

size looks great but what matters is if it feels good to you. I have 2 39.2mm AT's but only a 6 inch wrist so I kinda have to get the smaller sizes. Watch band can be easily changed yourself with the right tools. Enjoy, that is beautiful.

The 39.2mm AT2500 wears very similar to the 41.5mm AT8500.
The AT8500 has asymmetrical crown guards, so that accounts for some of the size difference bringing the two closer. It does wear slightly larger than the 39.2mm, but to me the feel was the same.
They were both classified as the "standard size" of their respective models.

To the OP, you've made the right choice, don't worry, it looks great on your wrist.

Blue dial and just the right size, these are Omegas darlings at the moment and you've picked a beauty. This will look good on any strap, I'm jealous.
