Yes, research was done with the Omega heritage team - nearly all watches confirmed by the Omega Archives - except those where the microfilm was unreadable or damaged - this happens for a very small number of watches as we know from experience....
That sounds great . Always good if there is a chance to get more than nice pictures. Looking forward

Congratulations to you both. A complete reference for the vintage Seamaster 300 is long overdue.

Perhaps just cut and paste @kox OF posts and you can publish next week?馃榾

Seriously, those of us who are fortunate enough to own early SM300 variants have longed for THE correct place for answers. Newbies, considering a SM300, have faced major risks in their initial purchases.

Finally, all questions will have their answers.

Spot on.

Hi @Dash1 and @kox

in general a great project and one of my fav models. when and where wilit be published ?

one important thing, you speak of research ... would love it you could explain a bit more the basis and sources in detail e.g.
- is it done with the heritage team of omega ?
- anything confirmed by omega ?

would be too sad if one reads nonsense like "the bezels of 2913 are made of bakelite"

Yes we hope to do some work with the Omega heritage team, but as you know Omega hold no records on fine details such as parts changes vs serial numbers/ production dates vs sub-references Etc.. This information can only come from many years of observation and record keeping by dedicated collectors.

Fantastic to see all that great response from you guys. Thanks 馃憤
I'm really happy and excited about this SM300 project. Something I wanted to do for years. Luckily Ash is just the right partner for the job. Like-minded and with a great track record of nice SM300 parts and examples, and he also has many hours of that all important "hands-on handling time".
Hard choices, discussions and work still ahead, but also lots of fun and new interesting findings 馃槜

We will do our very best and I'm very confident that you will like the end result 馃摉

And since we love pictures and this thread needs more of them....

One copy for me also, please. I'm a lifelong, diehard sm300 fan/owner/collector.
Finally, a reference book on sm300 by fans, of fans, and for fans!
I already have AJTT. I don't want another 'heritage-approved', big, fat, coffee table book (that also just happens to have its share of factual errors too-guess noone's perfect, not even the museum/heritage experts)...
Oh, and my 14755 says hi! 馃榾

FYI ... AJTT was not done by the actual heritage team. Things and standards have dramatically changed since then.

Because there wasn鈥檛 one (as we now know it) during the many years that were spent pulling that book together, but the book was sanctioned, and Marco and the team did the best job they could with the time, resources, and knowledge available (at the time).

It鈥檚 like archeology - it鈥檚 absolutely right, until someone finds better evidence of something else being absolutely right. 馃槈

Looking forward to seeing this in print @Dash1 @kox 馃憤
