NEW ?? Omega extract procedure

I’ve emailed Omega boutique an extract ask. Here’s the reply -

“We hope that you are having a wonderful week. We would be happy to facilitate the extraction of the archives for you. The process does require a full maintenance work on the timepiece itself. While your timepiece is going through maintenance, Switzerland HQ will work on the extraction for you. The extraction of the archives fee is about $200 and then about $1500 for the work done to the timepiece. The turnaround time for older timepieces takes about one year as it goes to Switzerland. No payment is required until the timepiece comes back to our boutique for pick up. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thank you!”

Anyone else told the same ?

Via South Africa, and by schooner and horseback? 🙄

Which country, which piece? And shame the OB employee who is most likely wrong.

Translation: We will do this but really don't want to. Therefore, we will make it sound as unappealing as possible and hope you don't bite.

This sounds like that premier service they began offering last year, not the standard Extract

Beat me to it, thats gotta be the Certificate of Authenticity. I did an EOA request yesterday and procedure was the same as usual on my side.

Haha.

Omega’s email indicated it’s to “to facilitate the extraction of the archives” so not sure if I mis-explained my ask. They seemed to get my ask correctly tho. I called the Dallas Texas boutique and was told it’s “a new process as of recently”. Cost has gone up so will need to ask ‘my guy’ although not sure if I want one.

For me, untenable really but will be interesting to see if folks pay for this ‘service’. I’m not inclined to

Sorry, I was not trying to imply that YOU were confused but that your OB may be confused and looking at the wrong procedure.
Or they may just want to get out of the EOA business and think this will do the trick. (It will IMO)

Naw @140dave that’s not how I received the comment at all. All good.
Have called OB Dallas; initially, I thought the associate sounded a defiant note in the conversation….I could be wrong, but did get a sense of the proverbial stiff arm rhetorically. Was it a less experienced associate? Don’t know, though this associate said she’d pass on my concern to another person.

Well…maybe they don’t want to deal with ME ? 😀

every OB likely has their own thing …

So the COA is one thing, more valuable than the EOA that's pretty worthless IMO, especially since they highlight the fact they haven't looked at the watch. But what's that $1500 for the service, last I checked it was €750 for a chronograph.

Ordering via the web site (not available in US, alas) looks to be the same. No requirement for servicing, and still 120 CHF.

The $1500 is for their restoration service.

Yeah, was really surprised by Omega Boutique North Park. I’ve asked again. Awaiting their reply. Not holding my breath.

A great (and generous) OF member has PM’d me out to help get an extract!

Cool people on Omega Forums !!
