New Moonswatch to Moonwatch Project

I have started a project with a very unique end game in mind. The crystal on my mission to mercury swatch got cracked. So my plan is to transplant the dial movement, etc to a stainless steel corregut speedmaster case. I have started to saw into the back of the moonswatch case with my dremmel and a small cutting wheel. This is a challenge in itself not to inadvertently damage the movement, when I am done it should be fairly simple from there. I am waiting for the corregut watch from ebay to arrive and then the switch. I will have I hope a one of a kind stainless steel moonswatch. I will post pictures if I succeed.

I have doubts on if this will work but regardless, you should post pictures whether it does or doesn’t succeed. Projects are fun and everyone enjoys a good story. Plus, I’m sure someone else out on the internet has pondered this project as well.

Why cut the case open? Is it not designed to come off?

No,it's a solid case,no case back

So many questions...

how will you remove the pushers and crown off the Swatch to place the movement in the Speedy case?
How will you accommodate for gaskets and water resistance?
Also...
how did you crack the crystal on the Swatch?

I did and since they are both quartz it should be easy just taking everything out of one and swapping to the other case. The corregut case is 50m water resistance. The plastic movement holder usually goes between the pusher pins and the movement so when you press the pusher it depresses the movement.

If it works I wonder how many people will be crazy enough to give this a try

Wait, what? Your newly acquired Speedmaster case had a quartz movement inside?

Yeah they are both quartz movement cases so I'm hoping it will be fairly easy

Good luck, but trying to open a Swatch watch without damaging the movement, much less transferring its guts to a new case, is not going to be easy. Keep us posted on how this all works out.

Shoot, I was really hoping it was the other way around; that you had figured out some way to get an 861 type movement into the bio-ceramic case.

Good luck with the project! As long as you have fun with it, heck if nothing else you get to spend some time doing needless destruction which is always sorta cathartic. IMO

Please post plenty of pics in progress. Curious about the quality of the movement inside. Will it be mostly plastic or metal??
