There's already a white dialed 3861 馃槣

Space related may also just mean a new X-33.
Very true! Although the white dial one is not very affordable 馃檨
I actually should鈥檝e said a panda dial 3861, which is the one I鈥檝e been waiting for, especially since getting the silver snoopy is not exactly easy.

But it could indeed another X-33 would also fit the bill, though that wouldn鈥檛 really sparkle my interest

Eh close enough. I tried that on at the OB and it looked white to me in their lighting.
I personally ended up with the Sedna one but might go back for the Canopus....

Either way, I don't think Omega would release a regular production white dial 3861 since the Canopus silver dial is pretty close.

I changed the hands on mine to black hands so I could read it at a glance. I would love so much if Omega brought out the 3681 SS with multiple dials (Blue, Purple, Orange, Taupe etc) I really believe it would give it greater appeal to non watch nerd people.

Perhaps Omega learns something valuable from the moonswatch collaboration and steps out of shadows with a funky new line of speedmasters. The Constellation line for ladies and gentlemen has some pretty funky dial colours.

Yeah I meant the Canopus one, just like the silver snoopy it's silver dial looks real white, close enough for me 馃槣

I wouldn't even mind if it's not regular production, as long as I could get my hands on it, of course, lol.
But the dream for me is a panda dial moonwatch with the 3861. I'd be throwing my money at them the moment I could.

Besides the design and whether it'll be a 3861 Moonwatch or an X-33, I'm equally curious what role, if any, that NASA plays in this release.

It's not a stretch to think that "next Omega Speedmaster and ...next chapter in Omega鈥檚 space history" could mean the watch was subjected to renewed NASA testing.

The qualification would be for an EVA. That's what really set the Speedmaster Moonwatch apart. While I don't expect the 3861 to have been tested, it would be feather in its cap to pass NASA's actual lab testing. Perhaps nothing new for the X-33 but as far as I know the 3861 Moonwatch has no NASA qualifications.

The other thing is that if this watch represents the next chapter in space history, that suggests something like the X-33. They are just so much more useful to a mission with lots of programs and countdowns. That makes sense to me for Artemis. As much as I personally like the Moonwatch, the X-33 is a fun watch for anyone who likes to fidget and push buttons.

I hope this announcement of the next chapter in Omega's space history is not marketing hyperbole but is a substantial collaboration between Omega and NASA.

Fun times.

Omega didn't make too many true panda dial watches (black subdials with white/silver dial). We have the Mitsukoshi, the 35th Apollo 11 and the 2020 Tokyo, all limited editions. To me a silvery panda dial is one of the best looking Speedmasters, but not sure Omega would do a numbered edition series so soon after the 2020 version.

Totally agree on the best looking speedies. I have a standard professional (.005) hesalite and love it, and I feel that a great other watch to be in the collection next to it would be said panda. I salivate every time I think of the Silver Snoopy Award (which fits the bill just fine for me in that regard - 3861 + panda, even with not black, but a dark blue), however considering how hard it is to get, and that I don't exactly live in a country that Omega sends a ton of limited stuff to (Brazil), I'm holding back on the hopes for that one.

One day maybe 馃槣

I think it might be a new version of the FOIS.

October 3rd, will mark the 60th Anniversary of Wally Schirra's Mercury mission, when he took the first Omega Speedmaster (CK2998) into space.

I think the last man on the moon in 1972 beats out the 60th anniv of the FOIS for importance and marketing.

But the Apollo 17 anniversary isn't until December. So if something is going to be announced soon, a new FOIS seems to fit the timing better.
