Hi - I am new to the forums, living in the UK.
I have a mixture of watches both old and modern - from pocket watches through to now...

The only Omega I own was an auction purchase needing a new second hand and a new crystal.
I am increasingly drawn towards vintage watches so am looking to learn more about those in particular...

Not sure that I can contribute much in comparison to some very knowledgeable folks on here, but look forward to being a part of the community.

Welcome mate, the Genève dynamic there does look like it’s had quite a few parts replaced like the dial and hands so good for a daily wear piece but for future purchases you might want to hold out for all original pieces as the vintage tritium dials and hands add a lot to the character

thank you!
Yes, I was aware that it is not 100% - but it was cheap enough and I felt sorry for it 😀 (probably not a good approach!)
I definitely have a good one on my list now - don't think I see any issues in having two (at least!)

Welcome and enjoy. Some of the best watches are the ones which aren't perfect but tell a story. From the looks of it, it has a story to tell!

Welcome! I thought the same thing when I joined last year, but after lots of reading and research on 14393 ref. Constellations, I was able to provide some useful feedback on a thread recently. You’ll definitely be contributing if you hang around long enough and read up. cheers!

Thank you for the kind welcome - I think any new area of knowledge can be daunting at first - but it does help to find a bunch of friendly people - am enjoying reading and learning!

Welcome to the forum, you’ll find that a lot of people focus on a specific watch model or era and broaden out their interests over time. Enjoy the experience 😊

Welcome! I recommend learning how to use the Search and Advanced Search functions on OF- where you can search for specific reference numbers within threads. Also look at the selected threads below the one you are reading, where older threads regarding the same subject are listed. I think thats a great way to dig deeper on specific watch.
Follow the Recommended Ebay listings thread for vetted listings, and also Private Watch sales thread where members list watches for sale. This different from Watches for Sale thread, which is where dealers list watches for sale. They are known dealers with known reputations. While you cannot list watches for sale until you are approved after 200 posts, you can buy anything from the Sales thread by communicating and arranging via Direct message with seller. These are issues often misunderstood by new members.
And dont be shy- ask any questions! Particularly before buying- just start a thread asking for advice on a potential purchase. You will get good advice from experienced members who are happy to help.
