Hey guys I hope all is well, I’m looking into purchasing my first vintage seamaster but I’m looking for some information on it before purchasing. Does anyone mind helping out? I have attached some photos of the watch. Thanks in advance!

Pics are not clear but looks like the dial has been refinished. Keep looking.
FYI look up the ref 2759 and 2761 on ebay to see what they sold for in the past.

Not a Seamaster expert, but the dial looks original to me. Am I wrong?

I don't think so. I see nothing that jumps out as a redial. @Bruce235 what are you seeing that is raising questions?

We really need sharper photos to help evaluate the watch. OP, please post sharp photos of the watch taken in natural light including the dial and each side. Also let us know how much the seller is asking for the watch. It's hard to tell from these photos, but it looks to me like the dial has a pretty significant patina. You may like that or you may not, but if it is patinated, it does indicate that the condition of the dial has deteriorated somewhat. Some collectors think of that as part of the character of a vintage watch, but others see it as dial damage. The movement also looks like it could use a good cleaning, so you'll need to factor in the cost of a service to determine whether the watch is a good value at the asking price.

Is this steel or gold capped? It's hard to tell. The former is usually more desirable, especially if there is any signifcant wear to the cap.

The photos aren't great but I'm pretty certain that dial is original. The crown may be too though my one had a narrower version of that. I'm assuming that is a 420 manual wind movement model. The S on the manual wind mid 50s fat lugs like this is usually the coat hanger style and differed from the contemporary Autos like the 2846 which usually have the rounder style. That said the dial isn't very nice and these aren't worth as much as the Autos. If it needs a service, and it probably does I'd price that around £275/$350 tops. If it has verifiably been serviced then I still wouldn't want to pay much more than £400/$500 personally. How much are they asking? If it's a business seller of course those numbers will be higher, they have to eat and they do offer some kind of warranty usually.

OP, if you like this particular 2759/2761 case reference, you might want to search a bit more and see if you can find one with a “waffle” dial in good condition. These are very attractive and worth considerably more than the plain dial versions. Here’s mine with a crosshair waffle dial:

The second pic shows seamaster as crude and jammed together, but could just be photo blur.
