Thanks - not so bothered about rarity as the earlier ones have moved into unobtainium since the whole Nina Rindt connection.

I'm obsessing over panda dials and really like this as an alternative to a speedmaster/ Zenith el Primero.

Appreciate your view on price as I think this looks well over, despite including boxes & papers.

    Price is stupid !

Additionally, from the ones I have looked at, the hands should be chrome, not black ... I have never seen one with black hands !

At least £5k overpriced. At least.

    Hi,

This is actually a lovely model and to be honest I think it is a very cool watch/value for the money. It features a great Lemania calibre, the base calibre of many important Pateks too. I won't lie, these are not so easy to come by, especially in the panda configuration with black bezel. I think there are more Nina Rindt's for sale at any given time than these. Of course this is an 80s watch that doesn't have the same appeal of the 60s nina but still super cool (at a fraction of the price). The price is higher than average (I guess a more realistic price is around €5k) for such a mint and full set example but realistically not gonna find one in mint conditions full set for considerably less money. If you love it and what you are looking for go for it!

A similar example (with the same black seconds hand) sold at Christeis 7500CHF not too long ago.

Thanks for your view; I think you make some really good points - there are indeed very few currently for sale and whilst this one is top end price, the dealer has already made an offer which is more palatable.

Holy Moly! And to think it let one of these go for £2750 last year - mind you I only paid £2k for it the previous year and the proceeds went toward an A386...

For that price and style, unless you are really wedded to a UG (and bear in mid the modern UG has little to do with UG of yore) I’d look at one of the variations of a Speedy CK2998 - they can still be had for around £4.5-5k and are properly made, good quality and good looking..

Thanks for the advice - keeping an open mind at present. Shortlist is: UG, Speedmaster Marui, CK2998 (is in my watch list on Ebay), Zenith A384. So a mix of old and new. Also keep adding an Explorer II polar - but only for sentimental reasons as I had one 15 years ago and like you with the UG wish I'd hung on to it!

Agree with the Rolex Explorer II polar - I had an early tritium dialled full set, and have come to regret parting with it...

One of the less desirable UG chronograph.

The dealer is one of the most expensive seller in the market.

I would suggest to run from both dealer and model.

Really appreciate you flagging this one - I'm watching it along with the black & gold bezel one

Design-wise it is a great watch, probably the only modern Universal to collect... a correct price would be 2.000/2.500 €
