Did you ever get to say this phrase when greeting someone?

I once sat in the waiting lounge at Vienna airport for my flight back home and overheard 3 Austrians talking about their citytrip to Amsterdam, one asks if anybody knows Dutch and one girl said yes saying this phrase out loud. She caught me smiling at what she said and I told her this seems to be the first thing we Dutch people teach foreigners.
