Hi and welcome.
It would help to know where you are located WRT who can service the watch and of course pictures would help.
Good luck with the process.

A bit of an intro along with your location would help. It’s no good is recommending a watchmaker in the south of the UK if you’re in Aus

Hi Moralee,
And welcome to the forum.
TBH, it’s impossible to tell you anything without your posting photos of the watch - face, case and movement and caseback if possible.
Where are you you located.
And what price you paid for the watch.
Sometimes the cost of repairing and restoring outweighs the value of the actual watch

Yes bit silly of me not to give location! I am in the scottish borders. I will post some images later when i can. As for the cost - 300 quid. I have always wanted one of these models to keep, not for selling on. Hopefully i havent made a huge mistake - que sera.

Quite a few members in UK and those in Scotland particularly will be able to make recommendations. If you don’t hear from any you can always start a new ‘Watch repairers in Scotland’ thread.

Bear in mind though that like watch collectors, not all repairers like or are best for some watches.

Like quite a few members, I’ve never met the three or four repairers I’ve used. Sending the watch by next day insured delivery has always worked for me.

Welcome. What made you get one that was “distressed”? Nothing wrong with that maybe it’s a model hard to find in your area. Sometimes the work required to repair can surpass the cost of a decent one but I’m not the advice giving type just speaking from both past history and curiosity. Pictures would be good. It’s very easy to post pics with your cellphone here. Actually it’s a very easy site to navigate and use and there are numerous people who have a boat load of watch knowledge here, I’m just not one of them.

That one has attractive styling. With a "shave and a wash" the watch would be quite pleasing. I'd own it. I'd wear it ...

... if it was running.

Welcome to the Forum! Thanks for joining and thanks for the photos of your acquisition.
