If it was a 24HR dial/hand combo, and the red hand made one revolution in 24 hours, the position above the sub-seconds should be "12", not "18" shouldn't it (same for all other time markers).

It would look like this if it was a 24H GMT dial?

goodness you’re obviously right, and I must’ve been too flustered by my now worthless speedmaster collection to have sorted it out myself

I’m left a bit confused as to the application of this watch, now. “Zulu” time is merely “GMT” time in military speak, yet if these are both 12hr hands I don’t quite follow the proper utilization of the hands and dial markers.

It was a very early attempt at a dual time watch (I think) and would have required the user to have a good idea of where they were (time wise) and the ability to remember if they were ahead or being "GMT".

2534.50. Great Omega GMT.

Yes, that one would be perfect for me if not for the bezel color. I prefer a solid black.

The only thing missing (IMO) is a set of 24 hour markers on the dial as well as the bezel.
That way you could have a true 3 time zone watch.
The current setup doesn't immediately/instinctively give you the GMT from the 12HR dial.

Longines should have taken a tip from Omega.

I agree that a small 24 hour índice on the rehaut would be fabulous, but I feel the Longines is a far more effective purpose built GMT that the Sea Master in your picture. I love how the GMT hand reaches all the way to the rotating bezel making it much easier to see the second time at a glance. Also, my 50 y/o eyes have a much harder time reading the typically small 24 hour markers on the dial compared to the ones on a rotating bezel.

That being said, if you want a diver with timer AND a GMT all in one , the SM is an absolute gem. I sure wish Omega would introduce a better purpose built GMT in their lineup. I would be all over a Seamaster 300 diver GMT with a 24 hour bezel.

I will be ordering this Longines if Tudor or Omega don’t up the ante. (BB58 GMT please !!)

Yes, this one has definitely made it onto my radar screen. Anxious to see it IRL.

I was passing by the local Longines OB and was surprised to see that they had all 3 colors available. I went in just to try them out and was so impressed I ended up walking out with the Green bezel/Anthracite Gilt dial on leather! It’s very hard to capture the green bezel in pics as it looks almost black in a lot of pics I took but definitely able to see the color in person. The last GMT I had was a 5-digit 16700 so it’s a little bigger on wrist but it’s not bad at all as it’s like all the Speedmasters I have. Compared to other GMTs at this price point, I think it absolutely smashes the Tudor GMT in terms of wearability. Anyways, look forward to spending some wrist time with this one.

Onto pics:

This new watch from Longines looks gorgeous and ticks so many boxes for me. Except size. I've got a wrist just over 6in diameter and 49mm lug to lug is just too big 🙁
A real shame as I think it represents great value for money.

It's a great looking watch and if I were into new watches I'd certainly consider it. I just don't like the way watches over 40mm wear. It feels like wearing a pocket watch on the wrist to me and they tend to not fit under shirt cuffs nearly as well as older watches. Maybe I've been wearing vintage watches for too long now.

42mmx15mm is a styling decision that is to me a bit out of step with the broader ‘heritage’ approach.

Were it 39mmx12mm…

Congrats! Mine is supposed to arrive in mid-May. Also got the green on steel, although the blue was mighty tempting....

Very very nice 😁 Been contemplating that model as well..

Thanks! Out of the 3 versions, this one spoke to me.

Agree with both your points. You can’t beat the 40 or below size but for the price point, I was willing to look past their “heritage” story and give it a shot. I tried on the Tudor GMT and the slab sides soured me on it even though the 41mm size would have worn better. I also don’t have big wrists either but I feel good about this one. Lucky for me, I don’t need to fit it under any cuffs as that’s not what I typically wear. I do have other pieces for that attire if needed.

Congrats! May’s not too far away!

Between those options, I absolutely agree.

And more generally not to discount that this Zulu time is a wonderful looking watch, and I think quite a good value.

Instead only for me personally given the current inclusions in my watch box, I have “too many” GMT/dual-time that either already overlap with this offering (eg modern and >40mm) or otherwise make it difficult to justify. The gloves would be off, however, had they gone 39/12-ish on this!

Agreeing with others here, beautiful but too large a watch for me to pull off...
Enjoy it

Thanks! Still enjoying it. It’s such a low-key piece that just works in all sorts of situations. Dress up or down, it doesn’t matter. Love traveling with the watch too as it doesn’t garner any attention at the airports. I might switch out for the darker leather band that comes with one of the other color combinations (black) for a different look. Overall, very pleased with it and will be in the collection for a long time.

That’s amazing, thank you for your reply. What’s the wearability like? My wrist is slightly over 6.75 inches. Would it wear nicely?

My AD won’t have it in physical stock until mid July, so any input would be highly appreciated!
