Interesting release, especially in the green/gilt variation, IMO,

It's very nice. I think if they do a titanium version it might get me across the line.

I really like these Spirit models but on the wrist, so far they just haven't grabbed me. I think it's because I generally don't go for non-diver 3 handers unless they really get it right.

A GMT chrono would be absolute killer though!

This is a very nice watch with great sizing. 42mm case with 14mm thickness. Why can't Omega do this??!!

Yeah, I think I'd definitely go for a Ti version; tried on the Ti Spirit and thought it was superb, but not quite enough to displace my IWC.

I've picked up a few Heritage models, and while most of have been moved on, my Longines/Hodinkee Sector colab has become a staple. Accurate, very wearable, runs forever, a simple but beautifully-made case and dial.

Feels like they are on track to be Tudor to Omega's Rolex as Omega moves relentlessly upmarket. Well-made high-value watches and a succession of releases that very rarely miss the mark, and now that the Spirits are available in 37mm, they seem to be getting sizing and proportions right.

Really nice watch I must say. I would have gone with a "gold coloured" date (just the number not the background). Titanium version will be interesting for sure.

Yeah, having a thing for GMTs, this one caught my attention - especially on leather

In person or print?

Only online as of yet - might be a rare instance I go out of my way to peep one in person, though

I may well be interested in one of these. I have a feeling Tudor will be releasing a BB58 GMT next week however so will hold fire right now until they’ve confirmed or not.

My plan was to wait for Omega to release a wearable GMT, but I'm intrigued by this release. Otherwise, I might be waiting on Omega a very long time. I totally love the PO GMT, but it's not wearable for me. Also, Omega should hire (or transfer) the Project Manager of the Zulu GMT....the PM figured out how to do this release at 13.9mm thick.

Regardless of particular tastes, this piece is an absolute jackpot and fills a void for which the industry has been clamoring. For under 3K (it will eventually be discounted I’m sure), you get…

Proprietary COSC movement ….
70 + hour power reserve
Brand History
Swiss made entry level luxury
Ceramic Bezel
100M WR
Jumping Hour GMT
Not an obvious homage to any soda can pieces.
5 year warranty
Incredibly readable at a glance
BONUS….a date that more than likely advances to the next day without issue.

It’s a solid offering that I am considering as I am not comfortable wearing my BLNR at work on a daily basis. I am going to hold out and see if Omega and Tudor have any refreshed or new models planned, but this piece falls on a very sweet spot in the market. For a hot minute I was considering a B&R that retails at $3800, completely off the shelf with 40 hour p/r and caller GMT. Trust me, this Longines will sell well, the brand is doing some admirable things.

I am pretty sure I will end up buying this watch. So many compelling reasons, plus I do really like the aesthetics. Plus, ya, no date window worry (even though many say it's not occurring, it still seems to rear its ugly head)...

The only thing missing (IMO) is a set of 24 hour markers on the dial as well as the bezel.
That way you could have a true 3 time zone watch.
The current setup doesn't immediately/instinctively give you the GMT from the 12HR dial.

Longines should have taken a tip from Omega.

I’m still waiting for Omega to come out with a replacement for this, but in the Seamaster’s current iteration! Would love it in Titianium…

Or themselves 😁

Almost, but not quite. That's still a 12 hour dial. A true GMT should have a 12/24 dial.

My ideal would be to combine the elements of the Longines Zulu with those of the Mido Multifort.
(or for Mido to release a version with a 24H bezel)

Use the standard hands for local time, GMT hand for GMT, rotating bezel for additional time zone.

the blue circle is the 24hr dial, the red arrow showing the 24hr 4th hand (this original Longine’s “Zulu” watch from the 30’s being purportedly the first ever watch model with a 24hr secondary timezone hand)

If it was a 24HR dial/hand combo, and the red hand made one revolution in 24 hours, the position above the sub-seconds should be "12", not "18" shouldn't it (same for all other time markers).

It would look like this if it was a 24H GMT dial?
