New Hydroconquest fever everywhere but here

I get it. This is an Omega forum. But on both WUS and the Longines reddit sub, talk about the new Hydroconquest is pervasive. I got caught up in it and ordered one for myself. The AD I ordered from said no one can keep them in stock. I ordered black with black bezel on the 3 link bracelet. Picture is representative only. Mine's not expected until next month. Looks a lot like an homage to a Tudor Pelagos.

Once you receive the watch I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about this new timepiece.

I'm on the online notify list for the Exclusive Hydroconquest. (788.4.98.6) in Frosted Blue Sunray.

That is a cool watch. I think you see less talk about it here because most are discussing vintage pieces.

I picked this up yesterday at the Longines boutique in Sydney. I'm really happy with it and the 39mm just fits perfectly. The staff their were really nice too.

Beautiful piece -- congrats!

Definitely going to pick one uo once all are available here. Tried on the 42mm at a local AD -- they'd sold out of nearly every model -- and appreciated the quality of case and dial especially as well as the bezel. Brilliant watch at a relatively sane price.

Looking forward to the quartz version also once the 39mm is introduced.

Very nice, indeed. Enjoy.

it appears that Longines is hot. Last winter my nephew wanted to get a good watch after having graduated from college, getting a good job, and then getting an even better job. He wasn't ready for the cost for an Omega, so here is what he bought:
The kid did pretty well I think.

No need to.......black dial vintage, 38mm

That's a very sharp looking sample! Though made me check if my memory served me badly, but no, Longines HydroConquest line isn't quite vintage yet. Getting very close though.

When everybody was scrambling to buy the Dinner Plate sized watches in the early to mid 2000's, I was gladly buying up their 38-40mm sized "way too small" watches at half and sometimes 2/3's off.

Crazy collectors...................😀

Yeah, that huge size watch trend was weird. I can still see it affecting some people's view on what's an average watch size. Them saying that 39mm watch is small, lol. When looking at longterm average that typical watch size is actually around 35mm (rised from 34mm by these later 40mm+ watches).

That blue is definitely stunning. I've seen various pics under different lighting and it can look brighter blue to almost black. Was my 2nd choice. I went with black/black because I think it looks great and will be extremely versatile.

What can I say? Omega have lost the plot so completely they have crashed off the road (trying too hard to be Rolex) … Tudor imo is no longer bang for buck (Trying to be Omega, but still a bit better value proposition, at present, but for how much longer is unclear) … enter Longines. If you like a good diver, and hate all the shiny bling, and need to keep your livers, kidneys, and spleens, for good health, these really are a fantastic proposition at ~1900chf (even with the mesh) …

I really have been enjoying this one …

I really enjoy my summer blue SM300 … but would honestly have a variety of different colored Hydroconquests (i think its 3 for the same price) than one of these if i was going to fork out hard earned cash …

Great pix and I agree -- I have the 300m in white and 300 Heritage in blue -- but am seriously considering side-grading to the HC with grey bezel. Just a beautiful watch.

Yep, agreed. And doesn't hurt that when looking at the pedigree of those 4 mentioned brands Longines has the most impressive one, I think.

Just came today. Needs the bracelet sized. Really solid-feeling in the hand. Winding via the crown was equal in smoothness to my Planet Ocean 2500, just a tad behind my Tudor BB GMT. I can tell this one is going to be fun to wear.

I did see on the Longines subreddit people discussing the green one, I thought it looked great but of course 39mm is on the large side for a woman with a tiny wrist.

Yes many Longines enthusiasts here mostly follow vintage Longines. However, I’m always happy when the modern ones do well because I like when the Swatch group does well in general, especially in the mid-luxury and non luxury segments.

Some people like to criticize the leadership of Swatch (I think Nick Hayek pulling the plug on Basel world caused a lot of bad blood among the people who financed the cnew building for the measly sum of 430 million swiss francs).

However Swatch group was part of a unique endeavor from the Swiss government in partnership with Swiss banks to save the entire Swiss watch making indutry from the quartz crisis. It’s one thing to generate profit when you’re an opaque company only’making a limited number of luxury watches for the wealthiest 1% (or 0.01%).

It’s a completely different ball game when you’re trying to make a profit from the manufacturing of watches everyone can afford.

I will say it wears smaller than stated size. I have a 41mm Peter Blake and a 43.5mm Planet Ocean and the HC seems to wear much smaller so maybe find an AD and try one on!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely report back if and when I get around to it!
