phillips auctions with extract of the archives , note different crown . note no swiss made on the dial

That one has a replacement crown, too, but a different one. The one in the OP is a typical replacement crown, available today. The correct type of crown is a bowlerhat style crown, as can be seen on the other examples provided by tdn-dk and others in this thread. It is common on fifties 30mm Omegas...

And that photo from Phillips is worthless, as "swiss made" would be obscured by the rim of the case, when taken from that angle. Notice how it has almost disappeared from tdn-dk's in his photo?

i see your point about the subdial , some examples on the net show subdials which touch the register.

Anyway I am happy i just buy an original dial , still a great bargain for less the 150 dollars.

I did some googleling it appears that some black dials touch the subregister , but i do note that the markers in the subdial don't touch the edge.

I also checked some auction catalogs not all Ranchero dials have swiss made on them . why would that be ?

i just don't get why some family would sell me a watch for 150 dollars, which according to yourselves is redone.

At least they didn't sell to you for $1,500 or $4,500.

For $150...good work.

@Americano74 for $150, you've got a great wath you can wear every day.

What you have to realise is that this forum is packed, wall to wall, with collectors. The criticisms aren't of you but of the originality of the watch you've presented. This is the way it has to be for one simple reason: this forum has become a resource. If your watch wasn't criticised, others might think it is correct when referencing pieces they find.

The dial has glaring issues but only to the educated eye. We all make mistakes. $150 is a pretty low price to pay for your education. 😉

No on the contrary learned something, I do note that there are lots of watches out there on the net , which are presented , as genuine, and in fact are not, even buy mayor dealers , especially rolex . The danger of course is that people start to take them for real.

that's a lot of work for very little money for the family. At 150, you've lost almost nothing. Haha.

When I found my Ranchero I had to have the seller take the dial out of the case to see the "Swiss Made" fully, he was adamant that it wasn't there and that no Rancheros had Swiss Made. This was a very experienced seller. It goes to show that this model is extraordinarily tricky to collect and @pitpro is the man with master plan when it comes to these. There are other secret tells as well that are probably only revealed when you have the Ranchero "en la mano."

quite frankly i just kept googling and I just saw a reputed dealer 40 years member of watch associations etc selling a ranchero with exact the same dial as mine .

and why some rancheros have not swiss made from major auction houses .

This is mine, so we can compare.
I defenitly see the difference in the subdial where markers touch the edge.

how about this solid gold sea master 300 unique franken watch

the markers are of radium ? and also there is sort of greenish stain on the dial is that because radium affected the dial ?
