You are correct - you turn the crown clockwise to wind up the spring. You can not over wind it as the end of the spring just slips against the barrel once it is fully wound. There is a ratchet mechanism, so if you wind the crown counter clockwise, you will just feel the mechanism slipping. On manual watches it is a little different. The crown will stop turning once the spring is fully wound.

The movement during shipping had the spring partially wound on your watch but not enough to have it go through the night.

id go with a speedy for sure! get one from 1991 - 1996. They still have the 861 movement in it and are cheaper than the ones from the 70's and 80's. Plus the bracelet is sickkkk. I have a 1994 from my brith year. I love it

Wow, that is beautiful. I think that apart from the curved bezel, it looks like it might be a NOS watch from the 1950s.

I do like watched made in German language regions. To my mind, there is a difference in their design.

I really like a lot of the watches that are coming out of Germany, these days. Many of them are terrific value - simple, elegant designs and well priced.
