I love my Planet Ocean but dislike the fact that it's 21mm, jealous seeing all the options for 20 or 22mm!

Is there a "go to" Omega clasp cover? I see a bunch of different iterations and want as close to "the real thing" as I can get. FWIW I have the 3861 hesalite and planning to buy the Forstner.

Could anyone with the new clasp/bracelet fit it to the vintage flat link version? I’m considering getting one but I’m still on the verge.

The contemporary flatlink comes with the new clasp already so I assume you are asking if it fits the other flatlink that forstner offers? The answer to that is yes and if you click on the clasp under the accessories section of the website theres a list of which bracelets the new clasp will work on.

I dont have photos cause I put the clasp on a 1450. That pic is a few posts back. I'm just saying that Forstner says it will work with the other style flatlink they offer.

It is clear to me that it is going to fit. I’d just like to get some feedback/ see some photos of this combination, since I’m not sure wether this chunkier clasp won’t be too overwhelming for the lighter bracelet.

makes sense. Its thicker in a good way but with that said, its almost the same footprint as the jangly style clasp. It won't look weird. This new clasp is spot on with the 50th anniversary omega flatlink clasp and that looks fine on the flatlink.

Hi! The last photo on the milled clasp page shows examples of it on two bracelets: the original flat link and the 1450. Hope that helps!

I have both bracelets, vintage and contemporary. Here are some pics of it on the vintage, which I much prefer over the wider link contemporary version. I don't know why they had to lengthen the links honestly. I think it would have been better just to add a bit of thickness to the vintage version and leave it at that.

Hi! I've seen this question a couple of times. We thought about just increasing the thickness, but doing that made the links look very odd (like short stubby cubes). We added a slight bit of length to keep the proportions that defined the look of the flat link bracelet. I expect the contemporary version is very close to the Omega Apollo 11 bracelet - although we didn't reference that bracelet when making the contemporary flat link, it looks like Omega made the same sort of updates that we did to modernize the vintage flat link bracelet.

Absolutely awesome! That is exactly what i wanted to see! On photos it looks alright, a bit big but bearable. Would you say that upgrading the clasp is worth it?

It's certainly bigger than the old clasp, but overall I think it's an improvement.

Personally (i haven’t had an opportunity to see this bracelet in person) I think you might have overdone it a bit. I was a bit disappointed when i saw the first photos of it because it looks really chunky. I found an article about 50th flat link (https://www.oysterinfo.de/en/omega-flat-link-bracelet/ i don’t know how reliable it is) and it would seem that your bracelet is an upscaled version of it. Though i really don’t mind it, I’ve seen that people are quite happy with it and so am i with my “vintage” Forstner one (even though gaps between polished and brushed parts are hysterically bad for this money).

Yeah, the provide some specs within that article:
"The links are 5.5 mm long and are about 2 mm thick. This makes it the thinnest Omega Speedmaster bracelet with solid links, even thinner, for example, than the vintage 1175 bracelet. "

This would mean that the Forstner vintage bracelet may be closer to the Omega? Thickness of the Forstner vintage is stated as 2.5mm.

Hard to believe the omega would be thinner, wish I could see on in person.

I’ve seen it and it felt rather thin. I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that it is 2.6mm but sadly i cannot find it anymore 🙁 It would be nice if somebody who has one, could confirm it.

Hmm, sounds like the clasp is much thicker, and there are no "stretchy" links this time around? That was one of the reasons why I wanted the Forstner vs Uncle Seiko..looks like I'm back to the drawing board on this one. I guess the old clasps/bracelets are all gone now.

It's a bit thicker than the stamped clasp for obvious reasons, but it's not anything sized out of the ordinary, even for Omega themselves.

Additionally, who told you that the "vintage" models are all gone now?

I think they are planning to sell both versions, at least for a while. If I understand correctly, the contemporary one is designed for a different aesthetic, not as a replacement for their original vintage design
