Another question that's probably been asked and answered, but has anyone tried the new FOIS flatlink on a regular 3861? If/when I ever get a snoopy, that's what I would like to put it on. I could try it myself with my watches, but don't trust that I won't scratch cases or lose pins.

the new FOIS is 19mm, the regular 3861's are 20mm so it won't work.

Check out this thread which might help with a solution with using the '57 flat link bracelet and the US end links.

Found the answer there, thanks. '57 bracelet with no modifications on a 3861.

Question: on the new FOIS bracelet: how many spots are there on the on-the-fly adjustment feature? Thanks.

Just one. Just happen to be wearing it today.

So, basically, you have just two positions to choose from?

It's essentially a half link adjustment. They added a lot of complexity, a longer clasp and more cost for not much range, but the market insisted on it. Cue the old school EW321 bracelet, two holes with the same half link adjustment, easily adjustable with a toothpick or paper clip. Once sized I don't need to adjust a bracelet, but some seem to be changing it constantly. Give me simplicity.

I find I adjust mine between the second position and a third I added, pretty regularly. But, it's not hard to adjust and I'm fine with it

I’m just tipping my toe into the modern Speedmaster venue from vintage, and don’t have experience with these new bracelets, so let me see if I’ve got this right: on bracelets like the ones on the New Ed White and new FIOS, there are no half links? But the both the holes in the Ed White clasp, and the on the fly adjustment are half links. So this explains why you regularly go from position two to three, rather than add a half link, which would allow you do go between position one and two, which are original to the bracelet?

Exactly. The links are already too short to have a half link- they measure about 5 mm "tall." The micro adjust holes that are present on the bracelet are about 2.5 mm apart.

Compare that to say, the old 1861 bracelet, those links are about 8.5 mm tall. So, having a "half link" (which I'm assuming is probably about 5 mm tall, although I've never measured one- which would be why two half links get you a very slightly greater sizing than one full link) is fine.

(Edit to add: the links on the SMP bracelet measure about 8.5 mm and the half link measures about 4 mm, so two half links are slightly under one full link and I probably had that backwards)
