New Ebay Scam?

Sometimes it’s a competitive market, as a seller not dealing with watches but with action figures i placed a toy where i see the buyers fighting it out within the last 10 seconds of the auction, literally. I do get worried when someone with almost 0 feedbacks wins because they usually chicken out or win, but i do have the right to cancel the order and relist... i only have been burned twice though...

Good point, on things I really want I snipe at +10-sec. Sometimes if you lose a bid in these last moments it's because your competitor is using sniping software. eBay allows both. https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/bidding/bid-sniping?id=4224

I find sniping software good. Set the price, go to sleep (most watch auctions end when I'm sleeping due to my time zone), and wake up to interesting surprises. And you never overpay as long as you snipe rationally (ahem!)

Except when you’re sniping multiple watches that end at the same time. You go to bed saying “I really hope I win one of these” and in the morning it’s a surprise when you’ve actually won all of them 😟

Yep. AuctionSniper has never failed to get my bid in. I don't always bid high enough to win, of course, but it's nice to know my bids will always be registered.

Fortunately I've never had to snipe >1 item at a time, but I think there's some setting in Gixen where you can group items. Once 1 of the items is won, it can cancel the others? Never used it but remember reading about it somewhere.

Does anyone have a good writeup (or is anyone willing to create one) on the various sniping tools, comparing and contrasting the features, along with a few tips & suggestions for success?

I don’t understand the whole sniping thing. Just bid your maximum and see what happens.

OK, but 3 of the eight listed aren't even rated. Several of them have HUGE cons with hardly any pro. I was hoping someone might give a little more personal experience than just googling it and pasting the result here.

Oh well, since you asked for "a good write-up", I thought that one wasn't too bad. I would've thought that the list of "HUGE cons" would've been enough to tell you which ones to avoid. If by "write-up" you mean something generated by a forum member, with a detailed list of pros and cons, with ratings, and "suggestions for success", unfortunately, it doesn't exist in this forum AFAIK.

At the end of the day set the price you want to pay and forget about it. If you win you have it for your price.

Or you could just “Go Ashley On it“

( coined after a Mod set a bit at $50k accidentally )
