A step in the right direction, this and a batman GMT might be the only 2 modern rolexes I'm currently looking at. However, the black bay black is still getting lots of wrist time.

New Daytona is awesome. Overall i have to say that Rolex did a great job for that Baselworld in comparison to Omega ..

The development of caliber 4130 has been a long and costly process which ended up with a very reliable, precise and well engineered movement.
I doubt that it will be substituted any time soon. Maybe upgraded, but not much more.

This is what I meant, upgrading like the 9300 calibre to the new one, sorry for not being specific. I think Rolex already has everything that takes to do it.

When they do it, do you think that they keep the nomenclature 4130? Rolex seems to do upgrades and keep the calibre name.

I have to say the three we have in the family have been amazing, and two suffered some absolutely extreme abuse and still went well. The 72 hours power reserve which is actually less than mine actually ran for after being freshly serviced is surprisingly useful too as you can switch it out for another watch over the weekend and have it still running Monday morning. As far as a daily wear watch its the best I own in a lot of areas.

Have to agree ....
Overall, I think Rolex had an incredible show... The new leadership there is really showing...the ceramic bezel was almost a no brainer because fans have been calling for it and providing photoshop prototypes for years now... But they finally delivered exactly what the people asked for...same with jubilee bracelet on a DJ 41...
The new yachtmasters and the explorer was just icing on the Basel16 cake...

I can say all this without having to mention Omega...

This kinda solved my "I don't have a sports watch that can function as a sports watch" problem. It's one of the few modern sports watches that is moderately sized; the white and black contrast is very pleasing; it has a proven movement; the bezel can now take a beating. What more can I ask for?

well I agree ceramic bezel is pleasing to the eyes, but certainly you shouldn't take it for a beating. It stands scratch, but you will easily crack or chip it by accidentally hitting something.

I have a GMT Master that is 3 years old. It is on my wrist when cycling and sailing my catamaran. That bezel is pretty tough. I LOVE the new Daytona. I'm having a lack of discipline moment. Already got a "you'd better not! " lecture from the missus.
