Gotcha. A 38 mm aqua terra is probably my next watch. Would love to see both versions before deciding.
I haven't ruled a 38mm quartz out of joining my collection either.

It's interesting that their own website shows the date window inconsistently (original unframed novelties photo, and framed renders of the individual watches all on the same page). Sloppy marketing effort IMO.

Yea its especially odd since Omega use renders pretty much everywhere on their website rather than photos anyway, it wouldn’t be that hard to recreate the images.

The new date frame looks massively better for sure, hopefully when they’re out Omega can flood the ADs with stock so people can actually get them.

Some delivered to my local AD today. Hoping to see them tomorrow. Apparently available to put “full deposit” down but won’t let you pick up until early next month.

Would you mind taking a close-up picture of the date frame? On the Instagram post it looks weirdly like a white frame rather than a proper Steel frame, I hope it‘s just the lighting.

I remember seeing those at a factory tour last year in Biel - they looked great aside from this cut-out. So terrible. Good that they have reacted.

Also, if I am not mistaken, there existed framed and non-framed versions of the old Aqua Terra as well. Maybe some internal designers debate 😁.

It's a shame that Omega is copying every Rolex step.

I wouldn't say that they are copying every step, as Omega offers a lot of things Rolex just doesn't. Omega has also experimenting with the retro/vintage watches, for example.

I really see this as attempting to cater to the current audience of potential buyers. I get that worked for Rolex first- I just don't see it as a complete following in rolexes footsteps.

As a company they have to survive...

Looks like this was corrected now. The new AT's have the date frame on the renderings.

Renderings yes, main photo from that link, no.

Went by my OB to see the new 38mm and 34mm ATs. The 38mm definitely comes with the polished frame around the date window.

Date window does come with a polished frame. Apparently, they’re so new to the OBs, they’re only getting one or two of each colour and one has to stay in exhibition cases. I’m assuming this is done purposely to Jack up demand. Has anyone purchased yet? Thinking of the saffron or Terracotta.

Hi
It’s of great debate if they are actually copying the brand with the crown.

However, Omega are not copying their accuracy… my submariner would gain 1 minute every month. My green Seamaster after two months has gained and lost small amounts and has actually not lost any time whatsoever!

I am truly amazed by the Omega product and my next acquisition will be for my daughter when she finishes University.

You just have been lucky. It's pointless to stablish general conclusions for a single unit.

Don’t think luck has anything to do with it… my wife’s Rolex Datejust has the exact same accuracy as- gaining one minute a month.

if one is referring to myself having one watch, I do not care one bit. I worked very hard for that one watch and wear it with pride and I am over the moon with the accuracy. Having more than one watch does not impress me… integrity and honesty does.

Regards

Nicolamilton is referring to your sample size of 1 watch being used to judge the accuracy of omegas versus Rolexes as a whole.

Glad you're happy with your Omega, I am as well.

Thank you for interpreting his comments for me. Maybe he is a big Rolex fan…

Alternatively, perhaps he's just a big fan of a critical, procedural testing approach for making assertions.

Based upon his profile picture and a sample of his posts, seems like he's into speedies.

Anyway, I'm quite proud of my single Omega and quite happy with its accuracy, but not worried if that accuracyis greater to or equal that of another luxury competitor. Before getting this Omega I wore a citizen ecodrive for over 20 years and if I was concerned primarily about accuracy I'd just put it back on.

The Omega says something different than thr citizen. I also think Rolex is overrated, and like Omegas.

Perhaps we should wait to see on how he thinks about my overview…

He (nicolamilton) is a strong supporter of Rolex's distribution policy and brand. quite criticizing Omega as a brand. You can check all this in the Spanish-speaking forum relojes-speciales

I did think that! My tale of woe did not end well with Rolex. I did put up with the accuracy and to be fair to Rolex they have built a very strong PR reputation.

I literally left that brand because of the unethical approach to me, I already had a 16610LV 2008 and was going to purchase the 116610LV. However their demands (withholding a warranty card and the signing of a document, to give them first chance if I sold it) at AD level and even at the headquarters, left me with a bitter taste and purely on a point of principle I left the brand and will never, ever return.

What has amazed me is the accuracy of my Green Seamaster and I did not think for one minute that it would have been as accurate. It is and for me and my family, I will purchase only Omega in the future.

I understand your frustration with Rolex. Although it is a good product and with great quality, the distribution leaves much to be desired, far removed from what is the purchase of a luxury watch.

The problem is that there are some such fans of the crown, that the company seems to be theirs... and they try to discredit Omega at all costs... I don't really know why...

I hope Omega doesn't change its distribution policy and let's continue enjoying of this great brand!
