New acquisition.

I have just acquired this small Omega and I am struggling to identify what I have. It sort of predates my knowledge and looks almost more antique than vintage. I'm guessing 1920s possible 30s? Any pointers would be gratefully received.

From Dr Ranfft’s pink pages this looks to be a cal 220. 15j, subseconds and 23.4mm handwind all match up. Production from 1935 into the war years. From the position of the regulator it requires a service. If you tell us where you’re located you can get some recommendations for a watchmaker.

Thank-you. The fact I now know the calibre gives me something to go on. I won't be getting this one serviced as it's not something I would wear. I was fortunate to have it given to me.

Not a 23.4. (the bridges design is different on the 23.4), but probably a 23.7. What size is the caliber inside?
Case is not original but a later non Omega replacement.
Hour hand is a replacement also. The crown is something like 25 years younger than the caliber.

That's really interesting. So it's a frankenwatch!!

Sorry - no it is not.
Caliber is 23.7

edit - @Tire-comedon told you while I was writing... he is always a bit faster 😀

Either way, I love the look of it.
It will go in the box marked " watches for daughter when she is 18 ( and interested in watches"

Truly a design that's way ahead of it's time.
Doesn't look dated at all.
