New 1975 Omega Seamaster - advice on how to refurbish

Hi everybody, I just got my first Omega and the watch looks in okay shape, I don't think it has been refurbished before. It came with a receipt and a box. My questions are:
It is a good idea to get it polished up? The front of the case is fairly scratched and I'd like to do that but I don't want to if it detracts from the watch ultimately.
Next I'd like to replace the glass as it is badly scratched - you may be able to see from the photos that it has a good few scratches but again I don't want to detract from the watch by doing anything stupid.

I have a reliable jeweller who can do the polishing, and have a watchmaker who is very experience who can service the watch for me. Both individuals are very trustworthy.

By the way I'm thrilled to have an Omega - it's been a longtime ambition and I'm delighted to have found this forum to nurture my obsession.

It should clean up nicely. Change the crystal and give the case a light polish if you want. Here is mine, it still has the plastic stuff on it in these pictures. I did remove it when I got it. I don't have any more recent pictures as it is in the safe. I keep meaning to take it out and use it.

Your Seamaster looks good - like I said I don't want to disimprove my Seamaster or take away from the originality or look of the watch.

Most people consider crystal changes a minor thing, nothing that takes away from the originality of a watch, as long at is not polished within an inch of its life then I don't see the problem. If it was a tool watch it would be a different ball game. For me, this watch needs to look tidy, a few scratches dont detract from its beauty. But too many and it looks a bit too scruffy. Its about finding a balance between originality and cosmetic acceptability. A new crystal will improve the overall look a 1000 fold. Might not even need anything else done to it cosmetically.
