New 1861 Speedmaster Pro availability

After thinking about for years I’m finally deciding to take the plunge and get a Speedmaster Pro.My question - Should I even bother looking for an 1861 (I’ll take it on any band) new? I’m in the Washington DC area and called two ADs today and they basically said “come in” and didn’t give a clear indication on 1861 availability.

Is this a search that won’t bear fruit and I should just move on? Looking at the 1861 because, well the price is a little more comfortable to me than the 3861. And if I do find it should I even consider asking for a discount, especially if I have no relationship with whatever AD I’ll find at? Sorry if this has asked before I couldn’t find anything with current market. Oh and any DC area AD recommendations?

Thanks for any help!

I got my 1861 back in the end of the March this year. OB said it was the last one and delivered that week. I guess there could be some stock here and there from that time of distribution.

I’ll probably get around to the acceptance phase that I should just buy online. For now I’m still being to scared to buy online. But when I do that one would definitely check the boxes. Thanks for flagging.

I was not scared to buy online and from foreign countries in the past. Sometime lucky, sometimes too many problem more than I want to handle. Having said that, now I stick to Omega Botique lately for new productions. I have been happy overall, even though have to pay the full retail. They have some sort of access to international inventory data for some watches.

Other than that, the 1861 listing here in OF is very tempting if brand new one is not a must.

Lots of trusted sellers here on the forum. I’d reach out to one and ask for help finding a new in box, all cards 1861. You’d be surprised, the magic they work! PM me for the seller I often use, if you’re interested…

I can understand but he has plenty of great reviews. I have never purchased from him but I have talked to him a number of times and he is quick to respond. I have purchased from two other dealers on this forum and made a number of private purchases from other members. If you ever want to find feedback quickly, structure a google search using the site command like you'll see in my screenshot below.

I bought my 1863 brand new from an AD approx 4 weeks ago and they still had stock of all the 1861 and 1862 models (straps and bracelets, hesalite and sapphire) albeit slowly depleting - many people who buy now will get the 3861 models so the 1861 will probably stick around for some time in those shops that have them - I tried both the new and old ones, I wanted sapphire for the durability of the glass and the exhibition caseback to see the movement which is a beautiful - so was after either the 1863 or 3863 and on bracelet...but when I came to try the bracelets, the new one which may like and say is much better, perhaps is but for my large wrist i loved the presence of the larger older bracelet and clasp and the heft it brings, for me it was more satisfying to wear on the wrist (many will disagree)..so as I say bought th 1863 new in the box at an AD 4 weeks ago...whilst this is in the UK, I would imagine the same sort of availability in larger USA AD's or on their online stores.

And I asked for discount, and whilst normally I am told there is no discount on anything moonwatch related (as opposed to other Omega's), I got approx. 15% discount too.

Good luck with your search - its a great watch.

BTW another reason for wanting the old one, is going to sound silly, but I always wanted the big moonwatch box, the loop, the tools, the straps, the medallon etc...feels like a proper package and that box is huge and quite a decorative show piece.
