Netflix "Away" Speedmaster nod

Not sure if this belongs here, but I started the Netflix series "Away" last night, which is a present day story about an astronaut leaving her family behind for a mission with an international space crew. I'm not sure if the show is any good or not (only got half way through the first episode and my phone rang), but early in the episode the astronaut's husband is playing piano, and he's wearing a Speedmaster. This was clearly added as a nod to the few who would catch it as it has an AML dial, rather than just using a current Pro for the shot.

Anyway, thought it was an interesting touch!

Watched it the other week and plenty of watches on the show. Mix of watches worn by crew over time on the spacecraft. Having a Russian saw a few different watches on him also.

I just started watching the documentary of the challenger on Netflix. Of course it’s not a thing you watch and feel great about but historically it’s very interesting. I noticed quite a few watch shots of the various shuttle missions. I did pause it to see if I could make out what Sally Ride was wearing, no luck so far. The documentary is sad but it is well done.

God, I hate these astronauts shows and movies. They're almost never realistic at all. Even this show Away, shows astronauts bickering on the pettiest things like it's high school. Astronauts are the most vetted people. They would never be allowed near a rocket if they're not psychologically fit: If they can't follow the chain of command or if they can't stay calm in the most difficult situations, they get cut. Why would they allow a bunch of whining babies to get on one of the most important missions of humankind? It's moronic. Sorry, but they only allow the best of the best to get on board a rocket. It's the right stuff after all and not the wrong stuff.

Also, in Away, they must have some of the dumbest engineers design their water filtration system.
