Well, not entirely new and a bit of DIY but c`mon - this was screaming for a match-up and put the 2024 Blue Soleil dial in a Speedmaster Pro case and give it batton hands. So i did and I think it works 馃槏 !

This also fixes the legibility issues that have been mentioned with the metalic hands on the FOIS 2024, a beautiful watch non the less, and the acrylic ads to the charm and changes in the blue-greyish colour of the dial.

James Hyman did his magic on the hands to match the dial as the standard full white ones did not convince me. And i am pretty sure the Broad Arrow hands will work as well and have enough legibility but i`ll save those for another time or watch.

I really love dials with the longer hour markers and AML logo, for me that is the perfect combo, and i am happy to have a stepped dial in the line-up again after selling my -69. It is a damn beautiful watch ! A Hippocampus caseback is the finishing touch, like the 67 - 68 originals but no DO90 unfortunately but h茅, i am not a millionaire !

Thanks all !

Where did the dial come from? I really like this setup.
Dials occasionally pop up in the parts section. It鈥檚 how I came about my TinTin dial/caseback as well as the Mitsukoshi dial/hand set.

Really nice, I was eyeing off Eve's dial for sale for a very similar build. Decided against it only because I didn't want to part out my 3590.50. Starting to regret that a bit after seeing yours!

Tho original 145.012 Speedmasters with a blue dial, the one with shorter hour markers could be a service dial from what i read. They have a lighter colour and maybe more greyish ?

It has been persuasively suggested before that all vintage soleil dials were service replacements and none left the factory in watches. This is why you see a mish mash of non matching styles, short indices, with, without Pro text etc. Some seem grey, some bluer.

I am one of those who finds the silver leaf hands on the FOIS2 hard to read. Your watch does look stunning and if my point above is correct is actually a more faithful tribute to the originals as a result of its modded nature 馃槈

Thank you !
Just a small step from "using parts that were available" back in the day, to a giant leap of "historically correct 馃槀 modding" now . But it sure is a pretty one !
