Hi Guys,
Im new and need your feedback on this vintage Omega Automatic Bumper.
I am planning to buy it for 650Usd. I checked the reference number but couldnt find anything. Seller says because its American case it will not be able to match it.
Its condition looks fine, band is original(I think) and will come with the box.
What is your feedback about it? Will that worth? I would love to buy and wear it.
Thanks to all in advance
Erkan

Hi @Erkan Gulmez and welcome to the forum!
That looks like a lovely well-preserved example of a automatic US-cased dress watch, circa mid-1950s. A similar example to yours is shown in this Norman Morris (Omega's sales representative in the US at that time) catalog page from 1955:

If you intend to buy the watch and wear it, you should first have the watch serviced by a watchmaker who is familiar with vintage watches. Ask for a "Clean, Lubricate, and Adjust" service. The watchmaker will fully disassemble the mechanical movement, clean all the parts from 70 years of accumulated grime and dried-out oils, re-assemble and lubricate the movement, and then adjust the entire assembly for accurate timekeeping.

That leather watchstrap and the buckle may indeed be original. Since leather straps tend to degrade over time and become quite fragile, if it were me, I would set that strap aside to preserve it, and buy a brand-new aftermarket strap that looks similar to the original for everyday use.

We hope to see you post a wrist shot soon in this thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/wruw-today.567/

One minor point. I do not believe that the watch band and buckle are original to this watch. These items were generally locally sourced. Most US cased models would have had a non-logo buckle similar to the other watch in the catalog photo.

Still a very nice piece.

In addition, the lug width is not 18mm, it's 11/16", which translates to 17.25mm. You can find NOS 11/16" on eBay easily enough, but be aware they are generally shorter than today's length. Hirsch, for example, will sell you a 17mm-ish strap, and those fit pretty well.
