Finally gave it to him at the office Xmas party on Saturday.
Complete with the crappy engraving lol. None of us ever had the time to track someone else down to re-do it, though I will be honest not a lot of effort was made.
In any case, he was very happy with it, and at the end of the day that is all that really matters. Though I'd still like to have it done right.
Now lets see how much it actually gets worn lol.

True that!

I'm happy to report that he has been wearing it daily.
Even to bed! Lol.
We joked with him about the crappy engraving and he said he didn't care...he "can't even see it anyway" hah.

Did you have grandma's guy find this one, or did you have to do it?

I enjoyed reading this thread when you first posted it. Is your grandad still enjoying his watch?

Did you find a non blind, half competent place to get it engraved or did you use the same company, just for the sake of consistency? Would you consider changing the company colours, to Black and white, just to make watch buying easier?

I hope the recipient enjoys their retirement and may they live a long, healthy and happy life.

Hah so no, I tracked this one down via Chrono24 and then ended up dealing with the seller directly.
Time Of Swiss in LA. Good experience there even though FedEx sort of screwed up the delivery...
As for grandad - he passed away about 4 months later back in April of 2022 now. He had been battling leukemia.
I need to find a new engraver - that is for sure. It will NOT be going back to the other one hah.
And no. We are staying Red! So I guess I'll have to keep over paying for these dumb things!

Very sorry to hear about your granddad I am surehe lived a good life and left behind a lot of happy memories for you and the rest of the family.
Would it be possible to give the retirees a choice of watches to pick from, as long as they are red, might save you a few pennies.?
No matter, your employees are lucky to get such thoughtful gifts.

Yes, I was initially going to get him a Sub, or even a DeepSea since hes a bigger guy.
But I had some pressure to get another one of these.
Only difference is this one is a 41, not a 36.

Enjoyed the thread.
If you are considering future watches on tighter budget this may appeal: Designed together with Seiko and Mr May himself!

Once you start handing out Rolex's it's hard to downgrade to Seiko.
