My grandfather is retiring from the family business. With all details aside, I am looking for something stainless steel with a red dial.
Price is not necessarily a big concern, but trying to keep it below the price of a new Civic.
They initially said, “find a SS Rolex with a red face”, to which I LOL’d. But then I actually looked for it and found this:

(sorry can’t link the picture)

Which I guess could actually work, but I’m not so sure.
Doesn’t have to be a Rolex, so any suggestions?

Unless your Grandfather is a very slight man, a 31mm watch with a max. 5.75" bracelet, I don't think so.

How about the Moser Pioneer? I’d want it on a bracelet, though.

This came to mind

Muhle Glashutte also offer a Panova red dial, but I do not know if they offer a bracelet

Well I did just realize they make this in a 36 and 41. Would lean towards the 36. When did they release these? I totally forgot about them apparently, but then I remembered that I though that the came out with a bunch of these funky dial colors in the last year or two.
There are a handful on Chrono24 but they are going for almost double MSRP. Which I guess is no surprise.

I take it you are talking about the Rolex? If so, I believe they were introduced almost exactly 12 months ago.

Your options are to get on an AD wait list, spend over retail in the grey market, walk into an AD and hope you are incredibly lucky, or go a different route entirely

How about the Kurono - akane dial? Far, far more interesting than the R.

In the running for a GPHG award, to boot.

I see a # of these on Reddit where they use Imgur or whatever to post the picture and I guess doing it that way provides a better picture and man the dial on these is something to see. I’ve found not everyone appreciates Japanese watches though but damn what a beauty

Is that your Foo2 that is beautiful
I wish… someday I’ll find the right reverso for me.
While that one is amazing, my clothing goes towards the blues and blacks. I think that watch leans more towards the browns.

Unless it's an engraved Rolex, that is presented in that green box, it won't be as impactful...

You'll do this once. For the founder of the company. Do it right.

Picture him showing it to his friends and telling the story and having them look at the watch...make it a Rolex.

Yes it will be engraved. He already has a gold day/date, and he quit wearing it a couple years ago. So I’m not even sure something like this will even get any wrist time. Could be strictly a sentimental piece. I talked to the family a little more last night and they are pretty dead set on the Rolex. There are a number of them on Chrono24.
I skipped the details as to why this watch came into question but we wanted stainless steel because we are in the steel business and our logo is red.
I’m going to call a couple people today just to see if they happen to have one - doubtful. And after I strike out - which I plan to, I’m going to once more make sure this is what the want to do.
I can’t believe the coral red is going for double MSRP. Crazy.

That coral red of the Rolex is ugly in my eyes. A cheap, blunt orangy red. This one has a red dial:

I am personally not a fan. Seems like people either love it or hate it. And some say it even looks a little orange in some light.

Have you thought about a quartz option given the convenience of not having to frequently set it? You’ll likely have more choices with less cost too.
