After having told about my Seamaster Big Crown and my two Constellations I also considering to add a few watches. I think either a Speedmaster, maybe not to old, or a vintage Omega Constellation. I saw this one (see images)
It is a 505 caliber, from 1956 ref. Number 2852/53 from vintage shop and comes with guarantee. Anyone see anything suspect suspicious. They say little used. It's 18k solid Gold. They want 6000 USD.
Every view are highly appreciated.

No expert on vintage pieces but the star under Constellation is not centered. No idea if it means something was done to the dial, but just looks off.

Thx. See, I did not notice. Will check into it.

I found this image from another. Looks like the star is not 100% centered on this either.

Dots at hour markers don’t seem to line up but photo is angled. Need focused straight shot of dial Movement/ inside Caseback photos avail?
Edit: As @redpcar illustrates above!

Thanks for pointing to the dots on hours markers. Those look at bit to much off. The cross hair seem OK compared with a similar whatch " see image". What do you think. There is no image from the inside. But, the hour markers tell me to stay away. Or?

Alignment issues with the refinished dial.

Sorry to bother you. Here is another image. Looks more correct? What did you think?

$6K.
Why are the edges on the case back so sharp and the top is more worn? Your last pic of the dial does look better. Maybe someone else can chime in on the script.

Font looks ok, but $6k? I know gold is up, but that seems high.
It comes with original papers and box. I guess that explains some of it. To be honest I think it looks better than those images. According to seller it is not used. I talk with him tomorrow. Unless no-one speaks up.

Before considering paying top $ you need detailed shots and careful examination of inside and clearer opinion about dial originality. Text still blurry on last photo but agree alignment appears much better. Not sure about serifs.
Seller stating it’s “not used” raises red flag for me as watch shows signs of use on bezel. Trust your eyes not seller. Are you seeing watch in person?

'not used' sure seems like BS. As SOG53 says, the bezel is marked up a bit. Also, there are spots of damage to the face that go beyond simple 'patina', including what looks like smudges.

The combination of blurry photos, lack of movement/ caseback interior photos, dial marks, bezel scratches and very sharp caseback would have me requesting more (and much better) photos. But I don't see any way in heck that it would removtely be worth the asking price.

I will follow your advice to the letter👍. I will ask for an image of case back and inside. I have visited the Desmond blog and kept checking. It's 02:30 so now I need a bit sleep. You are right about the wear. The whatch is 300km away from my place so no f2f. I will ask for more images. I cannot spot any strang thing with the dial. But check the backdrop of observatory. I have not seen the ruff surface where the stars are. Is that only for 2852/53 18k Gold or fake? What do you think about that?

The texture in sky area is ok actually it’s good when it’s not polished down. Here’s some examples on SS constellations

That was clear talk😀. Thx. Very good. I will mention all your points. Let's see what he will say. I am leaning towards "no buy" at the moment. Thanks to you guys.
Kind regards.

This is from another angle. Maybe the photo exaggerate the shadows.
Thanks a lot for the help SOG53.

The watch looks pretty good to me and the dial looks original. But there's something about that bezel that looks a bit funny. Before making any decisions on a watch like this at this price point I'd need more pictures of the dial, case and movement. Also post here the box and papers......we have seen it so many times....a 1950's Connie with 90's box and half of the papers....that's not the same at all!

As for the value if I was buying an 18kt watch like this out the wild I'd be looking to pay around €2.5K head only ( high gold price) with correct B&P I'd probably go up to €2.9K if it was all correct. From a dealer you can double those numbers....
