Need some help IDing this 14k 1958 watch please! TYSM in advance!

Hi everyone. Happy New Year! I trust this finds you all well.

Below are some photos of a watch I believe to have been made in 1958. I would be incredibly grateful for any wisdom you could give me on it.
Model, Ref, cal, condition, originality, rarity etc!

Welcome to the Omega forum. I think you can find all the information that you need including year, caliber, reference etc if you get the case opened and check all the information inside. From my limited knowledge I think that 14k gold watch cases were produced in the US. Good luck.

Adding to the above, the watch seems heavily over-polished also. I hesitate to say that it’s only worth scrap value. If it were me, I’d stay away.

Is this your watch or one you are thinking of buying. If the latter, what type of seller is it and what is the asking price. Please have it opened and show photos of the inside with all East amps and engravings visible.

The printing should be obscured by hands on photos of the dial.

I think Dan was missing "not" in there. We want to see all the printing as close as you can get while still in sharp focus. So put the time at 10 to 2.

Sorry, I meant to say that the hands should NOT obscure important things in photos.

Find someone with the right tool to open it up rather than fiddle around and possibly scratch the back

Good morning all, I hope you're well!

Yes, as an amateur, I haven't taken the back off yet for obvious reasons haha..

Story with it is that it came from a Godfather in the States (Windsor Jewellers, NC, I believe) as a graduation gift. Truly grateful as it is a touching present at a great milestone for me, but as someone keen to learn more, I'm obviously also very interested in the experts opinion so to speak...!

Very appreciative for your honesty.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, its a beautiful watch either way. Its a great gift you have got.

The Omega script looks original to me.

Enjoy your watch. It's not a collectors item but it's a good looking watch to wear.

Do you know if it has been serviced recently? It's good to service these watches every five years or so.

Yep! My thoughts exactly. Extremely fortunate and very grateful indeed. No complaints.

Was more interested in finding out as much about it as possible - not looking to sell or anything like that. 😀

Once the case back is off you can get the movement number and serial number that will help date the watch. The reference (model) number will be on the case back. The watchmaker will be able to tell if it needs servicing too. You can then do Google research on the reference and learn all kinds of stuff.

Does it keep time well? Say +/- 15s per day.
