Need advice: Rotor scratching on cal.471

Hi everyone,
I have an Omega Seamaster Ref. 2802-1 with Calibre 471. I have given it a full service myself (I am a trained watchmaker and now do this as a hobby), but sometimes the rotor scratches the automatic bridge and the caseback. I have already checked that the movement screws are tight and flush, and that the rotor is properly installed. I have checked the rotor axle, and it looks fine. I thought it might be the rotor wheel (the wheel fixed to the rotor that goes over the axle), also this being the softer metal ( bras and not steel), but this also looks fine. I'm not sure which piece I need to replace because they can be expensive, so I want to avoid buying parts that aren't the problem.
Thanks in advance!
Paul

It’s almost always the rotor pinion that wears out, rather than the axle.

You can tell pretty easily if it’s worn by looking at how much the rotor flops around.

This will give you an idea what excessive play, and the correct play looks like…

Thanks a lot! I'll compare it to my watch and replace the rotor pinion eventually. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

This shows the replacement procedure on the 550 series, but it's basically the same process on the 500 series...
