Hi everyone!

Looking at purchasing this Cal 601 ref 131.019 SP Omega Geneve from 1970.

Does this look like a redial to you guys? Also, I'm I'm not very familiar with how to match the case number to the movement number. Do they look right?

How do you guys rate this model compared to all the other Vintage time only Omegas? I'm stuck between this and a non-genta UG that is up for sale as well. Have attached the photo of it here too!.

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Shawn

Thanks for your reply! Will the condition of the case be an issue if I want to use it as an everyday watch? Personally I don't mind it. I'm just saying in terms of fragility. Now that you mentioned it, I noticed from the picture of the movement that the bottom of the case from the picture (directly on the opposite side from the crown) looks really thin. Will that be a problem? I'm afraid that it'll eventually break or something?

I don't think it'll break, or let's say that this isn't the major issue here. With case and dial in this condition, this watch should be really, reaaaally cheap, especially since it's not particularly rare and they aren't that expensive in a good condition. I'd say keep on searching, you'll find an affordable example in a much better shape. Personally, I wouldn't pay 100USD for it - but if it's priced accordingly, you just want a cheap, daily beater with an Omega-logo and it's fully functioning, you won't risk breaking it in half just by wearing it.

The 601 is about as solid as it get's with Omega hand would calibers, by the way.

The 601 is a good movement but the dial and case appear to be comparatively worn.

Look for a better 601 or, if you want an automatic, a 552 or 565.

For only a little more than we all assume your being asked for, you can get a nicer looking watch.
