And one of my geckos also makes an appearance.

I task them to eat as many spiders and aphids they see, this one gave me the knowing nod before scampering off on point.

Wow that's quite picturesque. It looks familiar, where is that?

Lombardy plain with Monte Rosa in the background

Big storm hit us here overnight, no power, no internet, had to go to the city to get power and connectivity. Hundreds of big gum trees down, they really are the worse trees to be around in a storm, tall as hell, filled with flammable oil, and fall over easily.

Hope you're ok Ash.
Lost power too. Thought it was a generalised blackout so went to bed. Neighbours had no loss of power; must have all turned their lights out when I peaked out yesterday!
Looks like my meter might have been fried. Nothing tripped in the box.
Sitting in the Council Library charging me phone, with air conditioning as its going to be a stinker today.

They were huge lightening bolts. Watched them for 5 minutes and they seemed kilometres away, then bam! Right on us.

Yea I'm with a mate at WeWork Edward st hiding from the 37 degree heat lol. Pretty glad I don't own our place as it looks like it took a bit of damage especially the rooftop solar panels but that'll be someone else's problem, hopefully the power will be sorted by the time I get home as it'll be a toasty night otherwise. It's a good thing none of those lightning strikes actually caught anything on fire, it's a damn tinderbox right now.

Apologies to Standy. We know he doesn't talk like that.
Apologies to everyone else too. I shouldn't. Wrist slapped.

Back to nature, sort of. The tinderbox that Ash mentioned. We seem to have a perpetual ground cover of dead leaves that never seem to truly die.
Now the group of people I really hate are "leaf blowers"; your noisy, obnoxious machine was only supposed to relieve you of the hard work of using a broom. You're still supposed to bag up the result and dispose of it!
My neighbours on both sides blow their driveways clear and then 'clear' the street in front of their mansions by blowing everything in front of our rental unit block, seemingly oblivious as to why their driveways are covered again so quickly.
Street design doesn't help any either:
Better than an undercover pipe/tube, I suppose.

Incidentally, I often refer to Queensland as the Florida of Australia, and to that end, just about every photo you see of fallen trees or a transformer exploding, there's always some shirtless bloke in the scene, usually punching a dart while pointing helpfully in case people can't miss the giant tree fallen or fire.

And yea, Jeep owners are like this even in Australia, its not a country specific issue, it's just that when you're the type of bloke that thinks yea, my rugged off-road vehicle is exactly the type of thing I should be using to bring down damaged trees adjacent to power lines, especially while the neighbours stand barefoot in the wet grass nearby, a Jeep Gladiator V8 is the logical choice of chariot.

It's a Jeep thing. I'm sure @gatorcpa has seen plenty of these kind of dudes around.

Should this post not be in the “Not all things in Australia are going to kill you thread”

Got a ton of rain recently and did some hikes near Moulton falls. Got some pretty good views of the salmon jumping and climbing up the falls!
