Back to the flora and fauna photos. The pansies are out in force this year. My first time, mainly due to a lack of geraniums at the garden centre (my bad for having a late gardening start).

So if someone call me a pansie, that means I am beautiful. Got it!

Nice Salamander😉

Yes, a pair of Dunn's salamanders. They were under a log not far from the waterfall pictured!

How lovely.. Dunns .. Is that North American?? We have about four very different varieties of Salamanders here in the UK, but they look quite a bit different.. some are spotted, some are red-bellied, and some have big crests that go the entire length of their body.

Spotted hiding in my sweet peas this morning , a cluster of common garden spider babies . The mother usually lays between 300 to 800 eggs .

Yes, North American- I'm in the Pacific Northwest (Washington state). We have 12 or 13 varieties of salamander and one newt species (all Salamandrids). It's very common for me to encounter rough-skinned newts, but I have also spotted Cascade torrent salamanders and these Dunn's as well as some others.

The largest salamander we have here gets almost 14 inches long!

14 inches!!! that's huge, so much bigger than our salamanders (newts) but then in my experience America does everything bigger👍
This is a good representation of the UK Salamandrids:

..but a glutton of cherries that follow👍

Indeed! Cherry season is fast-approaching.

Regarding the image shared: can't be 100% certain but those appear to be petals that dropped off of a flowering cherry but not a fruiting one. Most fruiting cherries that I am familiar with have white blossoms- I have two flowering cherry trees in my backyard with pink blossoms just like that they just got done last week!

I think there are over a thousand different varieties of cherry.. I'm guessing I've tried less than 50 different varieties
.. we mostly get the really dark almost black ones, The deep Burgundy ones, the vibrant red ones, yellow and red variegated, and yellow, but love all of them from the very sweet to the very tart. Never tried to Cherry that I didn't like😉

I like them as well! The area around Mount Hood (not far from me) produces a huge amount of cherries.... we'll go picking some in July for sure.

Damn we only have apples and pears in New England.
And quinces. Gf & I used to raid Arnold Arboretum for windfalls to make quince jelly -- delicious!

And isn't the Blueberry the state fruit of Maine?
