We had a Merlin terrorize the bird feeder last week. One moment you wonder why all the birds took off…and then you see it. Falcons are incredibly fast.
It was quite amazing and he could have had an eye on the bird from a half mile away for all I know but they speed at which the swoop in doesn’t give their prey much of a chance. The little bird was between a bush and a building so there were so aerial acrobatics involved. Nature is harsh but always impressive in a way.
